JAY, chapter 13
THE BOY WOKE UP AFTER A nightmare and checked the clock. It was 4am in the morning. He dreamt about his father taking over Auradon. Two days ago, he confessed his love for Lonnie to Carlos. Two days ago he kissed Lonnie. Two days ago their friendly relationship was ruined. Lonnie has been avoiding Jay ever since and he didn't like it. Every time the boy wanted to talk to her, she'd be with some people unknown to him or she'd run away, using any chance to avoid staying alone with Jay. Jay didn't like it, he was hurting more and more but he'd never show. He had to create this image of a bad boy that didn't care about actual feelings but deep inside he really was in love.
Jay got up and decided to go to kitchen to drink some water. He stumbled in the dark, not seeing clearly. Luckily, the kitchen was close to his and Carlos' dorm room. He went in without knocking, since he thought it'd be empty. It wasn't. Lonnie and some guy were in there. Jay didn't know who was that guy but knew that he already didn't like him. Just when Lonnie saw Jay come, she uncomfortably shrugged. A boy Lonnie was with, left after couple of seconds and Lonnie wanted to follow him but Jay caught her arm out of nowhere."Let go." Lonnie whispered. Her face going bright red in a second. She tried to get rid of Jay's grip but couldn't.
"Who's that guy?" Jay asked and made sure to hold onto Lonnie tightly, so that she wouldn't escape.
"That's Aaron, now let go of me." Lonnie demanded.
Jay let her go but she didn't move, just rubbed her arm. "What were you doing with him?" Jay asked curiously.
"Talking. What did it look like?" Lonnie asked sarcastically and raised her eyebrows.
"It looked like you very much enjoyed the conversation, due to all the laughing and gazing." Jay said and rolled his eyes.
"Well yes, I enjoyed talking to him. He doesn't confuse me." Lonnie said matter-of-factly.
"I confuse you?" Jay asked and raised his eyebrows. "You're the one messing with me."
"I'm messing with you?" Lonnie exclaimed. "You're the one with the reputation of bad boy that's all about getting girls."
"What's that supposed to mean? And what does my reputation have to do with this situation?" Jay asked.
"Everything." Lonnie yelled out and escaped Jay's grip.
"Details please." Jay mocked and crossed his arms on his chest.
"Why'd you kiss me?" Lonnie asked.
Jay looked up and down at her. "I felt like it."
"Felt like it?" Lonnie yelled out. "You can't just go around kissing whoever you feel like. Or maybe you do so, but with me, that won't work."
"Are you jealous?" Jay suddenly asked.
"Of what?"
"Of other girls I've been with."
"I'm not jealous. I'm just pointing out that I won't be one of those girls." Lonnie said harshly and left the room.
Jay wanted to catch up with her, but she was already gone when he stepped outside. He went back to his dorm room without making any noise.
Lonnie
Lonnie rushed back to her room after her little argument with Jay. She quickly laid on her bed and covered herself with some blankets. She was all snuggled up when Jane spoke out. "Where were you It's 4 in the morning." She whined and turned around to face Lonnie. They had a sleep over, afterwards Jane quickly fell asleep but Lonnie ended up wondering in the halls, that's when she bumped into Aaron. But obviously she wouldn't explain all of that to Jay, she figured he wouldn't care."I went to drink some water and bumped into Aaron and Jay." Lonnie spoke quietly.
She thought Jane had fallen asleep, but after hearing what she said, Jane swiftly sat up on her bed. "Aaron and then Jay?" Lonnie nodded. "How did it go?"
"Normally. Why are you asking?" Lonnie questioned and gave a worried look to Jane.
"Because I know when you're not feeling okay." Jane responded. "Tell me what happened."
Lonnie sighed and sat up on her bed as well. "Jay and I had a tiny argument, that's all." She murmured.
"What was it about?" Jane asked.
"He was mad at me for talking to Aaron-" Lonnie was cut off by Jane.
"You mean he was jealous?" Jane raised her eyebrows, Lonnie raised her shoulders.
"I've no idea." She sighed. "The thing is, he said I was messing with him. I don't understand what he was talking about... I know I've been avoiding him since our kiss but that's because I don't want to get hurt. Not now."
"That's totally understandable. With his reputation..." Jane lowered her voice.
"That's exactly what I told him." Lonnie agreed. "But you know, he said all these things and never once mentioned what he really feels towards me. What if he really doesn't care that much and I end up getting heartbroken."
"How much do you care?" Jane asked.
"I don't know, quite a bit?" Lonnie questioned.
"Wanna know my opinion? You care a whole lot about him." Jane said and smirked at Lonnie. "That's pretty obvious that you do, since he did all this things when you were captured by his father, you felt thankful and that led to you falling in love." Jane made 'love' sound like 'luuv'. To that Lonnie shook her head and threw a pillow at Jane. It was dark but Jane could still tell that Lonnie blushed.
"I'm not in love with him!" Lonnie defended herself but Jane kept making fun of her. "Really, stop! I told you, he probably doesn't even care about my feelings."
"How do you know that?" Jane exclaimed, then brought a hand to her mouth, afraid someone would hear them. "He got crazy about you talking to another guy. How 'careless' does that sound?"
"I still don't know how he feels Jane. He never told me." Lonnie said.
"He's new at this, give him some time." Jane replied.
"I am giving him time, In fact that's all i've been doing this past days and he sees it as me trying to avoid him. Doesn't he think that I might be confused too? He never gave an explanation, and even tho I love him, that still doesn't mean that he should mess with-"
"What did you just say?" Jane talked slowly, Lonnie raised an eyebrow, not knowing what Jane was talking about. But then it hit her.
"I didn't mean it like that-" She was once again cut off by Jane.
"You said you love him." Jane squealed. "You DO love him!"
Lonnie started explaining but Jane was just too excited to stop yelling.
"Girls!" Voice from outside called. It was fairy godmother. "Go to sleep!"
Jane and Lonnie shared looks and started laughing. Lonnie laid down on her bed and covered herself with blankets. Trying to hide the fact that she was blushing like crazy.
