Somewhere along the outskirts of the Imperial Kingdom, a little boy was sitting on a branch of a large magnolia tree, swinging his legs and listening to the birds singing. His eyes were closed as he let the wind brush against his smooth, caramel skin soothingly. The maple trees surrounding him in a wide circle were swaying and sending flecks of sunlight to the ground through their jade leaves.
The boy was pondering about the world residing around him with a curious mind.
In this kingdom, magic existed but not many people had it. Most people, in fact, had no magical ability and were just ordinary human beings.
But then there were those, who did have magical powers, called mages. Mages were not born with their powers, but sometime in their childhood, their magical emblems reveal on their skin and grant them a specific power.
As he was lost in his thoughts, there was the sound of soft footsteps and leaves rustling that made the boy open his eyes in alarm.
His eyes immediately spotted the dark figure approaching him from afar.
It was a boy who looked around the same age as him. He had large, doe eyes and dark brown hair that was slightly rustled and unkempt. He walked slowly into the large open space of grass and flowers surrounding the magnolia tree.
The one on the tree looked down at him with wonder, eyes glimmering in the single ray of sunlight that shone upon the two like they were put in a spotlight.
Finally, when the doe-eyed child looked up, they locked gazes and silently continued to have a staring contest.
After a bit, the doe-eyed smiled, looking somewhat like bunny.
"Hi! My name's Jeon Jungkook. It's nice to meet you!"
The other was startled by the sudden break of silence and instantly stood to run, but his foot slipped on the branch, causing him to plummet to the ground with a gasp.
"Oh god, are you okay?!" The boy, Jungkook, said as he rushed to his side.
The other released a groan and let Jungkook help him up and swipe the dirt and coral petals off his clothes.
"T-Thank you." He mumbled, stepping back after they were done.
Jungkook grinned, "No problem. So what's your name?"
"J-Jimin. Park Jimin." He responded shyly.
"Cool. Wanna be friends?"
Jimin nodded and watched Jungkook suddenly climb onto the magnolia tree he was just on. The boy kept his smile and gestured for him to come sit beside him.
Jimin did as he said, and two sat side-by-side, watching the dancing flecks of sunlight on the forest floor.
They began to converse, and although Jimin was a bit shy at first, eventually he began talking more and more, relaxing and speaking freely. They got to know each other very well to the point where they even gave each other nicknames.
They talked for hours and hours, joking around and playing games until it was already dark.
"I should go home now," Jungkook says, "You wanna meet up here again tomorrow morning?"
Jimin nodded and smiled as they parted ways. "See ya then, Kookie!"
"You too, Chim Chim!"
And on that day, a new pair of friends were bonded together. It was simple bond, a simple event.
But to them, it became much more.
They became the best of friends, meeting at the same magnolia tree deep in the forest every day. Every day, they'd share stories, release their pent up emotions, listen to each other's rants, and comfort each other when they were sad.
