Chapter 33
"This isn't a kink of yours, is it?" Robyn asked as she lay back on the bed, on top of the covers. Tim scoffed and rolled his eyes. She heard Damian chuckle from the corner of the room.
"Is that comfortable enough for you?" Tim asked after buckling her wrists and ankles down on a hospital bed. Why they had a specific bed with bindings, Robyn didn't want to question them.
"Sure," she tugged at the padded leather straps and made sure her hands and feet couldn't squeeze out. Bruce walked in with two small plastic boxes, Jason treading along behind him with his hands in his pockets.
"Why, exactly, is everyone in here?" Robyn asked.
"Tim for helping me observe any changes in behavior, brainwaves, and whatnot. Jason and Damian are here if anything goes downhill. If you want them to leave, just say so." Bruce said. Robyn decided not to say anything. He handed Tim something wiry. Tim slipped the cap over Robyn's head.
"It's an EEG; it measures your electrical brainwaves." He said without having to look at Robyn to sense her confusion. He then clipped a heart rate monitor on Robyn's index finger.
A few minutes of poking and prodding later, Robyn was set for the testing. Alfred grabbed a vial of the toxin and a syringe, filling it halfway. Robyn looked worriedly at Tim. He offered his hand to her for comfort, which she gratefully grabbed tightly. Alfred wiped Robyn's arm with an alcohol pad before injecting the serum.
Robyn gasped and bit her tongue at the familiar burning feeling as she felt the toxin spread through her bloodstream. She screamed in agony; sweat beaded and ran down her shaking body. Her mind was blank except for the thought of how much pain she was in. She surely thought she was going to die.
"We need to help her!" Tim yelled frantically at Bruce over Robyn's struggling body. Bruce felt a pang of sorrow for Tim and Robyn.
"We have to finish this. She consented. We have to get the data to know what Scarecrow did to her." He tried to keep a stoic face, but everyone in the room could see the crease between his eyebrows.
Jason left the room. He couldn't stand to hear Robyn's screams of agony. He knew all to well what it was like. To be in that much pain. To only ever be able to scream and writhe out of pain. And he couldn't bear to witness that pain in someone else. She didn't deserve it. Nobody ever did.
Finally, Robyn went still. The heart rate monitor flatlined. Another sense of panic shot through everyone.
"No!" Tim yelled. "No! No! Bruce! Alfred! Do something! Help me!" Tim frantically searched for the defibrillator.
"Tim. Shut up." Damian said surprisingly calm. Tim didn't seem to hear Damian.
"We can... we can save her." He panted shakily, still searching. Damian gabbed Tim by the shoulders and shook him.
"Shut up! Be quiet for two seconds, nitwit!" Tim finally paused. "Listen. Hear that?" It was the heart rate monitor. Tim nearly passed out from relief. Robyn's eyes cracked open. A small, exhausted smirk crept onto her face. Tim shot to her side and kissed her, tears streaming down his face.
"You're alive... I thought you- I-" Robyn shut him up with another kiss.
"I just forgot how much that toxin effing hurts." She sighed. Tim sobbed into her chest. Robyn kissed his hair woth a soft chuckle.
"It's okay, Tim. I knew I wasn't gonna die. I made it out of there alive. Besides, I've felt this toxin before. Each formula has a different feel."
"I'm gonna kill him! I'm gonna fucking kill the Scarecrow, and I don't care what it takes! What the fuck did he do to you?! Why you?! What happened when he had you? What- what...." Tim's hysteria began to fade into panting and sobbing.
"Damian, take him outside," Bruce said. Damian nodded and grabbed Tim's arm. He fought back. Robyn looked at him.
"Don't do it. Please," Damian dragged him out of the room and Tim caught the door jambs, "NO!" And then Tim was pulled through and the door was shut.
A moment of silence passed.
"Does he-"
"He hasn't slept since you went missing." Bruce interrupted. Robyn felt weirdly touched. She cleared her throat, changing the subject.
"Did you get the readings?" She asked. Bruce nodded and unbuckled the leather straps. Robyn rubbed her wrists.
"You can take the cap off if you don't want any more tests done." Bruce said. Robyn took it off. "It'll take me and Alfred a bit to analyze the readings. Go and rest." Robyn left the room.
She saw Jason with a flask in his hand at the cave's kitchen. She walked up to him and took a seat at the island.
"Where'd Dami take Tim?" Jason shrugged and offered the flask to Robyn. She shook her head. "You look like you need it more than I do. Wanna talk about it?" Jason shook his head.
"I should have known being in there was a bad idea. Brought back memories I don't necessarily want to remember."
"Sure you're good?" Jason nodded. Robyn laid a hand on his shoulder. "I can make time if you wanna talk. Just say so." And then Robyn stood up to find Tim.
~•*•~
Robyn found Tim in his room working on his bo staff. She knocked softly on the doorframe.
"Hey. Doing better?" She asked. Robyn closed the door walked over to Tim and massaged his tough shoulders. She moved down to his pecs. Tim dropped the staff and screwdriver with a soft clunk and leaned back into Robyn's chest.
"I overreacted." He whispered. Robyn laughed and walked around the chair and straddled Tim's lap, burying her fingers into his hair, to which he closed his eyes.
"You think? You went ballistic, insane. I don't think I've ever seen someone so hysterical." Tim smiled and kissed her softly, slowly.
"Can we just skip the dialogue and go straight to foreplay?" He wrapped his arms around Robyn and carried her to the bed.
"I'd love that." Robyn said and crawled over him. She kissed his neck and skirted her hands under his shirt, feeling his soft torso.
Everything about Tim was soft. His jawline was prominant, but not sharp. His thick, shaggy, raven hair. His eyes were claming like a blanket to a baby. His lips were especially soft. Even his body was soft... his abs not all that prominent and his pecs were round, not rectangular. His body was less angular than the typical man's, but moreso than the woman's. And his actions were soft, light, smooth, purposeful. Anything he did, he did with grace, like a ballerina. And every day, Robyn fell more and more in love with this man beneath her.
"Tim." She said after breaking a kiss with his neck.
"Yeah, babygirl?" He looked her in the eye.
"I'm ready."
