Chapter 31
Tim glared at her when Robyn stepped in. He seemed to be tinkering with his bo staff. He turned his attention back to it without a word. She was trembling, from what, she didn't know, most likely nerves.
"Look," Robyn started and sat on his bed, back to Tim, "I don't... I don't remember doing what I did. I don't remember killing-" A lump formed at the back of Robyn's throat. She took a shaky breath. "I don't remember anything. It's all blank. What I'm- what I'm getting at is that... I don't think I'm the, uh, monster or... kill-...." A tear rolled down Robyn's face as her voice cracked. It was over, she was done for. Her emotional walls cracked and caved and she broke down. She covered her face to quiet her sobs and hide in shame. She brought her knees up and cried into them.
It was still quiet after Robyn settled a little. She sniffled and wiped her nose and eyes.
Robyn set her chin on her knees. "Sorry... 'm sorry, 'm a mess. What I did- I don't want it to ever happen again. I don't know what I- what I did, I just know it wasn't me. Whatever happened, something possessed me. Just... you don't have to believe me, hell, I barely believe me. And if you decide to... to leave, I can understand why. I get why you're mad and don't want to talk. And, trust me, I wouldn't wan-" Robyn paused at the dip of the bed and turned to see Tim. His face was sympathetic. He wrapped his arm around Robyn's shoulders and pulled her close.
"'m sorry. I'm so sorry. I just- it's- it's my fault. I should have been more careful. I should have known, and I should have stayed back, and this wouldn't have happened if I-" Robyn was crying again. Tim pulled her back to his chest and wrapped his arms and legs around her. He pulled her hair away from her burning neck and put his face into her shoulder.
"Shhhh," he soothed, "Let it out. We'll get past this. I'm here. It's okay." He pressed kisses onto Robyn's neck as she cried and crumbled and broke down in his embrace. She heard him sniffle. She let out a huffy giggle.
"Why... why are you crying?" She asked.
Tim giggled, too. "I hate seeing my loved ones cry over something that wasn't even their fault." Robyn made sure to mentally note what he said. They both wiped their eyes. It was then that Robyn felt the exhaustion of breaking down set in. She still wanted to hear his side of the story. There was a beat of silence before she spoke.
"Why were you so mad at me?" Robyn asked.
"I don't know. I guess all those days searching and investigating, I guess I had it set in my mind that maybe Scarecrow had many other test subjects and had yet to touch you. As soon as I saw you... you were fighting like I had never seen. You even went head-to-head with Jason. Do you know how hard it is to knock him out? Sedatives barely work on him. All I'm saying is that I knew Scarecrow did something to you the moment I saw you. And seeing you so broken up over what happened, I knew you were being genuine about not remembering or having control." Tim squeezed Robyn in his embrace. "I got mad because I thought you could control yourself and just turn off that mentality. And I'm sorry for making you so upset."
"'S okay, y'din't know," Robyn slurred sleepily. Tim chuckled softly and scooted up the bed with Robyn still in his arms. He helped Robyn under the covers before he climbed out of the bed to turn off the lights and strip to a t-shirt and boxers. Then he slid into bed and wrapped an arm around Robyn. He felt her wrap an arm around his waist and press her face to his shoulder with a sigh. He stroked her hair softly and pecked her forehead until her breathing grew heavy. Soon after, he found himself falling asleep.

"Master Tim, Miss Lancaster, I suggest you wake up now so you may get to sleep at a decent time tonight." Alfred said after his second attempt of waking the pair. "This is the last time I am warning you." He opened the curtains to reveal the bright sunlight, reflected even brighter by the snow. Robyn groaned and peeled her eyes open. She caught Alfred walking out and closing the door behind him. Tim was on his stomach with an arm thrown over her torso. He was still soundly sleeping. So Robyn began carding her fingers through his shaggy raven locks. It took a while, but he eventually woke up. He grinned a lopsided grin and pulled her closer.
"Morning, heavy sleeper," she said quietly. Tim sighed and squeezed her, all while stretching his legs out. He rolled on top of Robyn and allowed all of his weight to smush her (which, if we're honest here, isn't much). Robyn wrapped her arms around him and gave him a squeeze in return.
Robyn studied his sleepy eyes. She saw specks of green and gray swirled with the overpowering blue. Tim studied hers; a light brown color with green bordering the pupil. Once, he'd seen those eyes with the light on them just right, angling off her irises and making them come alive, an entire spectrum of warm browns washing over her eyes. It was truly beautiful to see.
And then Tim's eyes closed and his nose brushed hers playfully. His lips gently collided with Robyn's. They came alive and he pulled her arms from his back and intertwined their fingers, their hands on either side of Robyn's head.
"Missed you.. so much..., babe," he mumbled between kisses. Robyn have his hands a tight squeeze in response and kissed him harder. His mouth travelled to her earlobe and he gently pulled it with his teeth before working his way down her neck. Robyn grasped at the feeling and wrapped her legs around his hips, drawing him closer. He would have felt embarassed with his current... predicament in his nether regions, but he decided not to care.
Tim's hips ground into Robyn's and Robyn immediately blushed. She was both surprised and flattered that she could make someone feel this way about her. Then memories flooded back and she froze.
"Stop." She said. And Tim stopped. Immediately she felt ashamed and a lump formed in her throat.
"Did I-"
"No. 'S not you. I just... it's...." Robyn stuttered. Tim nodded in understanding and rolled off of her.
"It's okay. It takes time. I'm here for you. And I can wait until you're ready." Tim affirmed. Robyn bit her tongue, holding back tears of shame and embarassment. Her lip quivered and Tim, that fucker, saw, and pulled them upright and hugged her as she let go. She pulled at his shirt and cried into his chest and resisted the urge to scream.
Why was she crying so fucking much? She probably looked so weak compared to everyone else. The Waynes? The Batfamily? They never cried. Even after she saw Tim cry, she still refused to believe it. They're all stronger than I am. I'm probably the burden. Nobody wants me, the crybaby, here. Despite her evil thoughts, she held Tim closer and refused to let him go. And that's when she knew.
Robyn slowed her crying and gained some type of composure. Tim wiped her tears for her and she smiled in gratitude before burying her face in his tear stained shirt.
"I love you, Timothy Drake." She whispered. Tim almost didn't hear it, but when he did....
"I love you, too, Robyn Lancaster."
