Chapter 11

Robyn watched the growing dusk on top of a building. There were bunches of kids and parents dressed up in costumes flowing in and out of each one.

She'd already lost count of how many Batmen and Robins there were. There were countless witches and princesses; countless knights and men of service, like police and firemen. All of them had a sack of candy swinging by their side.

Robyn wondered if she would see Red Robin tonight. Maybe he was passing out candy to kids as his real self. Maybe he was at a party. Or he could be trick-or-treating. What would he be wearing? His actual vigilante costume? Oh, there were so many unanswered questions.

Party. She had a party to go to later on. Who was it she would be? Robyn saw a little girl in a clown costume. Right. She was going to be Harley Quinn. She doubted she had anything for the costume, though. She'd have to go over to Harley's and Pam's place.

She scanned the roads, looking for any of those stupid bullies trying to get little kids' candy for their own gain. But the streets were quite peaceful for once. It was out of character for Gotham. Though, the city may be improving with the Bat Weebs running around and scaring the shit out of anyone who makes the wrong choice.

Suddenly, movement in the corner of her eye caused her to snap out of her thoughts and she whipped her head up to another building. A tall, slender figure stood, staring at her. She focused on the figure. A graceful male, from how the figure was standing. Dressed in black with an electric blue stripe running from two fingers on one hand, up his arm and across his torso, and stretched down to two more fingers on his other hand. Domino mask and shaggy hair. She knew this guy.

Nightwing ducked down and disappeared, which set her on edge. Shit. Shit shit shit. He was going to catch her. Run. Her legs wouldn't move. Why couldn't her legs move?! Move! Go! Run! Her mind screamed. Finally, her senses came to and she sprinted across the cement building and launched herself onto the next. Bad choice. How did he get here? Robyn skidded to a stop, nearly slamming into Nightwing.

"Nice to see you on this fine evening." Nightwing greeted sarcastically, his arms crossed dominantly. Robyn groaned and rolled her eyes.

"I'm not doing anything." She said, "Can't I just take care of this dump city?"

Nightwing rolled his eyes, "Says the one who steals-"

"Only those who can afford it." Robyn interrupted.

"Right." He huffed, "Anyway, where you headed to?"

"A friend's place. Not your business." She said and jammed her hands into her leather jacket's pockets.

"Actually," Nightwing's eyebrows raised and he took a few steps forward, invading Robyn's space, "It's all of my business. You might be part of a drug cartel. Maybe planning some stupid-ass scheme with someone else. It's my duty to protect Gotham." Robyn took a step back to keep from getting run into.

"Aren't you the one who's always in Bludhaven? Aren't you supposed to be fathering that city?" Robyn shot and poked a finger into Nightwing's chest, which caused her hand to get slapped away.

"You watch your tone, Hood." He shot back.

"Oh? You want a fight? You aren't the only acrobat in Gotham. I'm just about as talented as you are, pretty boy." She growled and raised to her tip-toes, their noses almost touching. They breathed in each other's air heavily. There was a long moment of silence between the two of them.

"I guess pretty boy doesn't want to hit a girl after all, huh? Such a gentleman." She smirked, knowing that if he backed down, there would be a dent in his ego. His jaw clenched, his eyes burned with rage.

"Actually, no." Robyn was taken aback. What? Nightwing didn't want a fight? Huh.

Then there was something pressed hard onto her lips. It took her a confused, fleeting moment to figure out what the hell was going on. Nightwing kissing her? Holy fucking shit. She felt nothing, but decided to play nice and react. She ran her hands into his hair and pulled gently.

Robyn was the first to break the kiss, "What was that?" She questioned. Nightwing was panting slightly, "Tough week?"

"I don't know. My girlfriend and I... I needed to vent." He bowed his head and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Uhm... Thanks?" She was confused. You can't make Girl A jealous unless you kiss Girl B near her. There was no Girl A in sight.

"It's nothing romantic... On my side, at least." Nightwing corrected himself.

"Nor mine, dickface." Robyn insulted, "Please let me go back to what I was doing." She passed him, her shoulder purposely slamming into his side.

She shook her head and decided to head to Harley's place. She hopped buildings silently until she arrived, seeing plants surround the roof and marking Pam's windowsill. She hopped down to their level and tapped the window. Pam appeared, dressed in a flannel and short shorts, despite the chill outside.

"What, if you're looking for candy, I suggest you check the floor below." She opened the window and let Robyn in, "Hello, dear."

"Is Harles here?" Robyn asked, "I need to borrow a few things."

"Yeah." Pamela yelled for Harleen and she came bounding down the hallway and into the living room, where Robyn and Pam stood.

"Heya, Rob! What'cha need?" Harleen chirped. Her blonde hair bounced when she greeted the two.

"I have a Halloween party to attend." Robyn said, "I need your costume." Harleen's face lit up and she grabbed Robyn's hand, dragging her to her room.
