Chapter 19
Robyn found herself in a familiar place. The meadow that was in her previous dreams. She looked around. She was in the same dress as before, the white, flow-y one. She felt happy for once. She laughed and twirled in the alfalfa.
Then she saw a lonely tree. Maple, it looked like. And under the tree was the well-dressed man that was in her dreams before. His blue eyes twinkled and a soft smile was planted on his lips. The mask that he wore in the dreams before was gone, revealing his face, it was strangely familiar. Like she'd seen the man out on the streets somewhere.
"Your mask. It's gone," Robyn said as she strode over to him. The alfalfa was unusually soft under her bare feet.
"I know. I just thought I wouldn't wear it this time," the black-haired man said.
"How come? To reveal yourself to me?" She asked curiously.
"Now isn't the time for names or identities. I just came to tell you that you are doing well. You are doing good to the city," he said.
"But what does that mean?" She asked.
"You will figure it out in due time. But for now, I must go." The man turned to leave.
"Wait!" Robyn called. The man paused, not turning around, "Will I see you again?" She asked.
"You will," he said, and with that, he was gone. She felt troubled for a few moments before she was plunged into blackness. Then there was a strange light and she felt little things crawling over her skin. She looked down. Hundreds of spiders, ants, centipedes, and other unnamable insects were climbing over her skin. She shivered before she gained her voice and shrieked, trying to swat them off, jump, run, or do anything to get them off, but she found her limbs tied tight. She screamed as the crawled up to her neck and into her nose and ears and mouth and-
Robyn woke with a shriek and dripping in sweat. She wiped her forehead and sat up. She shrieked again, seeing a figure next to the bed. She grabbed her pillow and threw it at the figure and flicked on the bedroom light. Red Robin was standing there, holding the pillow. He was in sweats and a t-shirt and looked pretty tired.
"What-" she began.
"I heard you screaming when I walked by here. I thought someone was attacking you," his voice was calming, "I was going to wake you up, but you got to that first." He said and sat at the edge of the bed, handing back the pillow.
"What time is it?" She asked.
"Four thirty-three in the morning," he answered after looking at his watch, "You gonna be okay?"
Robyn rubbed her eyes, finding them wet. She must have been crying. "Yeah. Just a nightmare," she sighed. The two sat in silence for a while.
"Can I ask you something?" Robyn asked.
"Sure. Go for it."
"Your name. Is it really Tim or Timmy or whatever?"
Red seemed to stiffen, "Uh, yeah. Why?"
"Good. I'll refer to you as Tim, now." Tim smiled, "I always liked that name, by the way."
"Uh, thanks," he rubbed the back of his neck, "But that'll only have to happen in private, sadly. I have an identity to keep."
Robyn felt sleep pulling at her eyes again, but she fought it.
"You look tired, Robyn. You should get back to sleep," Tim said and began to get up. Robyn nodded and laid back down. Suddenly memories of the nightmare came back.
"Tim. Please don't leave," she whispered. Tim turned back around.
"Okay," he whispered back and moved for the lounge chair in the corner of the room. But Robyn moved over and made room in the bed for Tim. She made pleading eye contact with Tim and he got the hint. He sighed and climbed onto the bed. As soon as he was comfortable, Robyn curled next to him, her head resting on his shoulder. He stiffened again for a moment, but soon realized she was trying to be affectionate towards him, then he relaxed and decided to flirt back. He gently wrapped his arm around her.
It didn't take long for Robyn to fall asleep, but when she did, Tim turned off the light and peeled off his mask, placing it on the nightstand. He, too, soon fell asleep.

When Robyn came to, she was engulfed in the smell of cinnamon and fabric softener and the slightest smell of sweat, which could have been Robyn. She smiled and felt for Tim, but was met with refreshingly cool sheets. Her heart drooped a little, begging for his presence.
Stop it, stupid feelings. She thought and slid out of the bed. She shivered at the coldness of the cave and went to her dresser, where she found a pair of sweatpants and an old sweatshirt waiting for her. She changed into the clothes.
Suddenly, something caught her eye. A note laid on the dresser.
Don't worry about much today. You've got a free day. I'll be in the cave most of the day if you get lonely.
-Tim
Robyn smiled and walked out of her room after brushing her hair and teeth, ready for the day ahead.
