Chapter Fourteen

The Outsiders

"Dude, what the hell? I've been texting you." Archie says sitting down at the booth we have.

"Archie, Jughead just told us what happened yesterday," Betty says holding Jughead arm.

"Though I checked out at the words "construction" and "site.""

"Of course you did," I comment.

She elbows my arm and I chuckle.

"Moose and I are going to the Southside to find those Serpents. You in?"

I look over to Archie surprised as Jughead looks bewildered. Oh, this is not good.

"Whoa! Hey, you didn't say it was Serpents who beat Moose up."

" 'Cause we don't know that for a fact."

"Well, it's still worth a shot if it might help my Dad."

"Well don't you think that's a little stupid. You're trying to make trouble with them for no reason."

"There's not any "no reason," Kate! They are trying to ruining my dads land." I feel my nerves rise knowing FP was there. These two idiots are going to get themselves killed going out there by themselves. "It's not like we're going to fight them."

"You're running on pure emotions, Archie. You think it's the Serpents instead of being someone else."

"Who else could it be, then?!" He looks at me annoyed.

I fidget looking away wanting to warn FP but I can't. I shouldn't care but I do. "I don't know but from what I hear they wouldn't do that."

"Not if someone didn't hire them. They're a gang they'll do anything for money."

I look to my empty cup. "Well, how are you going to get there then?" I ask tapping my fingers on the cup to stop myself from punching him to get some sense back into his head.

"Kevin's boyfriend can get us in."

"Where?" Roni asks confused.

"To some bar where the Serpents hang out."

'The Whyte Wyrm. God dammit.'

"If Moose spots them, we call Sheriff Keller and get these goons arrested."

"Archie, the Serpents are dangerous. They're drug dealers."

I want to laugh hearing her say this.

"What? Says who?"

"Polly. Remember? Trev told us that Jason was dealing drugs? It was from the Serpents."

"You heard my dad, Jughead. Clifford Blossom is trying to torpedo him. Sheriff Keller basically blew him off, right in front of us. Someone needs to do something."

"Archie, going into that bar is a bad idea."

"Jughead, are you coming with me or not." I look to Jughead who sits in silence. And I knew exactly why he did it. "Thanks for having my back."

I move out of the booth following Archie outside. I walk beside him and he looks over to me. "What are you doing?"

"Baby showers aren't my thing. I'll come with you idiots." I tell him and climb into his truck.
