The Lost Weekend

I walk in hearing Cheryl shout out the steps. "Four... stop." She walks toward me seeming annoyed.

I dropped Roni off before me and I went to talk with Forsythe even though he was still working. He needed to know about the finding in case Clifford or my dad come after him. Not that I haven't really handled it.

"You're late, Katie."

"I'm not blind. I know."

"We've already reviewed the new choreography for Homecoming. That means you'll be in the back, where your presence will do the least amount of damage."

"With you front and center, no doubt," I say smirking.

"But of course. I do have the maddest skills on this squad."

"No... sweetheart you don't. We all know this."

"You're welcome to challenge me, Katie, but you'll lose."

I smirk looking her up and down. "I never lose, Cheryl. In fact, let's let the Vixen decide who's the rightful cherry on top." I state turning to them.

"All those for Cheryl?" Roni asks and I smile as I stand up.

"All those for Katie?" Betty asks and the girls begin clapping.

I smile looking down. I never lose. Ever. I look over to Cheryl smirking a little bit. A Lodge out doing a Blossom. I love it. "Never cross a Lodge. Come on girls." I say and Cheryl looks pissed. I turn walking off.

"Paul."

"Kate."

I lean back as he shows me the folder Veronica had seen. "Is he being stupid about this?" I say notice he nearly ratted me out.

"I believe he wants her and you to testify. Kate if you don't testify for him... he will out you and drag you down with him."

"For what?! I didn't do anything!"

"We both know you have done plenty to put you in his spot if not worst."

I toss him the folder running my hands through my hair. "He wouldn't dare. I still have a lot of shit on him."

"Listen Katie... I greatly advise you to testify. Your past can't get out. I know you don't want it either."

I look down before sinking into the chair. "He's a piece of shit and you know this. He may be paying you well but I trust you know it comes with a cost."

"I'm paying that price now by trying to get him out of prison or a lesser sentence. We can't bribe the judge this time."

"Whatever," I state and he places a thick wrap down.

"This is for you from Hiram. Just testify please."

I reach over taking it. "He doesn't deserve my voice but I owe him. Alright, tell him that. When this is over we cut all business ties. He fucked up my life already. I don't want any more of his toxic ways when he gets out."

"Thank you, Katie. I'll tell him." I unwrap it seeing it was some money and an army knife. I look up to him before setting it down. "Katie."

"I'm not. He can rot in hell."
