Joey POV (Surprise \'o'/ )

There's a light touch to my stomach and a soft voice that pulls me from the fog of my nightmares. With a groan I lift my head from the comfort of my pillow to see who it is. Of course it's my brother. My kind, sweet, lovely brother can fuck off, because fuck getting up. I roll over, burying my face into my pillow. Jace keeps rubbing my back as if it's going to help get me up.

"Joey, wake up. You're going to school with me again. You have five minutes to get up or I'm going to get Luke." Jace warns and I shake my head with a groan. Unlike my brother, Luke wouldn't hesitate to yank me from the warmth of my bed and throw me into lava- well that might be an exaggeration, but only a little. I push up off the bed and sit on my knees. I look up at Jace still feeling a bit dazed from sleep. Jace smiles and runs a hand through my hair, which I have no doubt is sticking up everywhere like a drunk bird's nest. "Go get ready." He says before heading out. I lean forward to bury my face into my pillow with my ass up and my blankets covering me. I sway my ass back and forth trying to find the motivation to get out of bed.

It isn't until the blanket is ripped off me that I realize that I fell asleep again. Stupidly strong arms scoop me out of my safe haven. I'm thrown over a stupidly broad shoulder.

"Wakey-wakey!" A stupidly cheerful says. Of course it's Luke. Of fucking course Luke would rip me away from the only good thing in my life and be happy about it. Fucking heathen. ((A/N: Calm down, bro XD))

I am plopped onto the cold bathroom counter and instantly regret only wearing boxers to bed. Luke lightly pats my cheeks to keep me awake. I make a feeble attempt to swat his hand away causing him to laugh. 

"Come on, Sleepy-head! I've got to leave in a few minutes, but I need to check you over first." He says running a hand through the nest on my head. I groan in complaint, but let him do his things. When I scratch at my inner elbow Luke bats at my hand. "Leave it be." He scolds. I stick my tongue out at him. "Okay, you are doing good. It looks like withdrawal is pretty much over." 

"I told you. The only reason I acted the way I did was because I've been clean for so long it was more of a shock to my system to have it back." I say feeling more awake and less cursing the world. 

"Were you really clean for as long as you say?" He asks and I feel something twist in my gut. He doesn't believe me. "Hey, don't pull that face." He says.

"I'm not making a face." I mumble trying to keep my face neutral.

"Yes you are." Luke says poking my forehead. "I'm not trying to be mean, Joey. It's just that you've lied about being clean before and you were pretty damn convincing. It broke everyone's hearts to find out the truth." He says seriously. I keep my eyes on my hands as he speaks. "Joey-"

"I swear I've been clean. Please, just believe me. If I weren't being honest you'd be able to tell. I'd be showing serious withdrawal symptom." I tell him. " And I haven't been shooting up here either. I wouldn't do that to you guys." I add quickly when Luke opens his mouth. "Whatever her name was took all of it with her." I neglect to tell him about the stash I've had hidden away just in case it got too bad. It's been collecting dust now and I should throw it away, but what if? I'd have nothing to feel normal again. In my previous house the only saving grace between all the physical and emotional abuse was when my guardians of the moment would give me my "monthly allowance" which consisted of various drugs.

"Okay." Luke says after a moment of silence. "I believe you." He adds, ruffling my hair as if it isn't messy enough. I glance up at him to see that he means it. I give him a small smile. 

"Thanks." I say and he smiles. 

"Good. Now finish getting ready I'll see you later." He says with a joyful slap to my bare back. I let out a yelp and try to reach the now stinging skin of my back. Luke cackles as he leaves. Asshole.
