Jace POV
I plop onto the couch, burying my face in a pillow, and let out a frustrated scream. I hold up my hand to see that it's still shaking. After the scene with Matt I had a meeting to get to so I couldn't even go after him and try to fix things. Maybe it's for the best. My brain's not working right. I'd probably say the wrong thing. I let out a long sigh. Why do I seem to attract drama? I just want a peaceful life. I get up and grab my phone. I quickly send a text to a friend of mine (Yes I have friends too) that I met in college. [Hey, wanna hang out at our old diner? I need some advice.]
[Sure. Nat wants to know if she can come too.] They reply.
[Of course she can :D]
[Kay. How's 5 sound?]
[Sounds great. See you there.] I lock my phone and contemplate what to do for the next hour. Anime? I nod to myself. Anime. I watch old episodes(I'm not allowed to watch new ones without Luke) until I have to leave.
When I arrive at the dinner I'm instantly greeted by a familiar face.
"Well, if it isn't Jace Wolf! I haven't seen you since you graduated!" Nancy, a waitress that has been working here for as long as I've been alive yet doesn't seem to look a day over 21 (like, I think she's immortal), greets me. I smile.
"Hi, it has been a while, hasn't it? How have you been?" I ask as she gives me a hug.
"Oh, same old same old. I'm on my sixth husband now."
"What happened to your last three?" I ask surprised.
"Death and divorce. I see a something new on you though!" She drawls taking my hand upon seeing the ring. "Who's the lucky guy?"
"Luke." I reply with a blush.
"Aw, you're still with him. That's great. I'm happy for you, hun." She says smiling. "Now, have a seat. I'll get you a lemonade?" She ask.
"Yes, please." I say as I go to a booth by a window, the one I always sat in when I was in college.
"Will anyone be join-" Nancy starts, but is interrupt by a loud voice.
"Jace!" I hear Natalie as I'm about to sit then, someone hugs me from behind. I turn my head and it, of course, is Natalie. She seems more happy to see me than her brother, Jonas, who is pretty much my best friend.
"Hey, Nat." I greet. "Hey, Jonas." I say once he's reached the table.
"Well, if it isn't the twins. I haven't seen you two since you graduated either." Nancy says happily. Yes, that's correct, Natalie and Jonas are twins, though only through genetics, because they look nothing alike. Jonas is tall and lanky with dark brown hair and oriental features, which he gets from their mother. Natalie is short and a little chubby with bleached blonde hair and now that she's been officially transitioned for ten years it's grown a lot longer than his and, though they are a bit oriental, her features lean more on the American side, which she gets from their dad. They do have matching brown eyes though.
"It's just like a family reunion in here." Jonas says, his voice is gravelly. He bends a bit to give Nancy a hug. In college people would find it amusing when either Nat or I or both of us would walk with Jonas, because we were both short, me 5'6"at the time and Nat forever stuck at 5'3", and Jonas was super tall being almost seven feet, like he's taller than Luke. After hugging Nancy and Nat gets off of me, Jonas gives me a hug. I love hugging Jonas almost as much as I love hugging Luke (A/N: and at this moment Luke felt a strange sense of offense and jealousy). I sort of nuzzle into his chest as he buries his face in my hair (A/N: I swear they're just friends though I could ship it XD). After we pull apart we sit at the booth. Nancy takes our orders and we're left to talk.
