Jace's POV
"Do you think it'll be in her favor? What if they don't believe her?" I ask, quickly resisting the urge to start pacing again. "Why couldn't they let us in?"
"Jace, calm down. It'll be fine," Luke tells me firmly and takes my fidgety hands, giving them a kiss. "They should be out very soon."
"I know," I reply. "But, I'm still worried." I let out a sigh. "What if something goes wrong?"
"Well, you can ask them yourself," he says looking behind me and standing up. I see that Sarah coming up to us. The court session must be adjourned.
"Sarah! Are you okay? How'd it go?" I ask. She bites her lip, thinking. I get nervous butterflies and the "what if's" start floating around my mind.
"I think it went well'" she replies sounding skeptic.
"I think it went really well," Miss Yvonne, Sarah's lawyer, a short plump woman with chocolate skin and short, dark Carmel hair, adds in.
"What happened?" Luke asks politely.
"They found him guilty of child of abuse. They're taking him away as we speak," Miss Yvonne states and I fist pump the air. "Careful Mr. Wolf, your inner teenager is leaking out," she scolds with a smile. I blush and straighten my shirt.
"Sorry. . .That's great news," I say sheepishly.
"Yes, he get's put away, but I get put back into the system. Also, I have to stay in a psych ward for at least a month, unless decided otherwise by my therapist," Sarah grumbles. I give her a sympathetic smile.
"What's my favorite saying, Sarah?" I ask. At first everyone looks confused, then Sarah groans.
"' There's a method to madness,'" she grumbles, rolling her eyes. I nod.
"You may think it's stupid, but it's there for a reason. You just need to jump into the rabbit hole and let it take effect," I tell her and she roles her eyes again.
"You're such a geek," she says, but then smiles. "Thanks, though. You better come visit me in the loony bin," she says.
"Yeah, I'll visit you, but only if I get a hug," I say smiling, opening my arms for a hug. She hugs me and I give her a reassuring squeeze. "You'll be fine. I promise," I tell her before we separate.
"Thanks," she smiles. Then Luke opens his arms.
"Bring it in, kid," he says and engulfs her in a bear hug. "If anyone gives you hell, just call your good ol' Papa Luke here and I'll take care of them," he says, ruffling her hair.
"Okay, thanks, 'Papa Luke'," she says grinning. "Well, I've got to go," she says and goes bouncing off. Luke wraps an arm around me.
"She's gonna be okay. She's a strong little flamingo" he reassures, kissing my temple. We start walking out to our car.
"Papa Luke, huh?" I ask looking up at him grinning. "Mind if I call you that?" I joke. He grins down at me and leans in.
"No, you'll be calling me 'Daddy'," he whispers into my ear teasingly. We share a look and start to laugh.
((One Week Later))
"So how do you think our little flamingo is?" Luke asks.
"Well, Morgan said she was sick of the people, but better. She also has good news that she wants to tell us," I explain.
"Wonder what it is. Do you know if they've started to date yet?" he asks. Looking up from his phone. "Don't miss the turn," he says, pointing.
"I know," I say, turning the steering wheel. "I haven't heard anything, but it's got to be happening soon. It's obvious Morgan has taken an interest," I tell him. "We're here," I say, pulling in to Sarah's hospital. "What time is it?" I ask as I park the car.
"We're five minutes early as always, Dear," he teases as he get's out of the car.
"Would you prefer we were late?" I retort. He laughs.
"Good point," he replies, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. I poke him lightly in the ribs.
"Hello, how may I help you?" the receptionist asks.
"We're here to visit Sarah," Luke explains.
"Oh, okay, sign in here and you'll be able to see her in a minute or two," the receptionist replies, sliding the sign in sheet towards me. True to his word, Sarah came running out within a minute. She gives me a hug and then Luke a hug.
"How's it going kid?" Luke asks, ruffling her pink hair.
"I'm doing great actually and I have some news that might be good," she says, fixing her hair.
"Really?" I ask and she nods. "Then spill." She takes a deep breath.
"I'm being adopted!" she reveals.
"Really! By who? Are they nice?" I ask.
"Yeah, I think they're going to be great. You know the doctor from the hospital I first went to after you found me?" she asks.
"Yeah, Dr. Wilder?" I ask.
"Yeah! Well, she told me that I reminded her of their daughter, who went off to college a year ago, and she missed having a child at home, so she and her husband decided to adopt me. I've been talking to them and they seem really nice and accepting. I think this one might last long, or at least long enough for me to turn eighteen and illegitimately become your child," she smirks.
"That's great kid!" Luke exclaims pulling her into a hug. Then, he decides to make it a group hug by pulling me into it too. After Luke decided we were squished enough we separate, laughing.
"I'm really happy you have a chance at having a good family," I tell her.
"Yeah, and my therapist says that I should be out by the expected time. They say I'm progressing smoothly and I'm a 'good patient' apparently," she tells us.
"Good job!" Luke says and gives her a high five. "Yo–"
Beep! Beep!
"Shit, sorry, I have to go to the hospital."
"Awe too bad. I guess we'll have to talk more later. See ya guys," Sarah says and we give each other hugs.
"Bye!"

A/N:
Okay, I am super sorry that this chapter is super short and it's more of a filler. I would have made it longer, but I couldn't think of anything else that would go with this chapter. The next chapter is longer and it will probably have some smut type stuff in it :)
