"This looks weird on me" Mavvie complained staring at himself in the mirror. It was finally the first day of the Great Wolf Games, and we were getting prepared. Mavvie and I had gotten into our uniforms while Anju and Winter were busy getting themselves ready. Apparently, when we were ready we were supposed to stop at their room for something important.
Probably another lecture about behavior and that were representing everything our father had worked hard to make and things like that.
"I don't feel like I'm me. I feel like we're playing a part that we were never meant to play with this whole royalty thing."
My eyes widened, "Wow that's deep Mav. Look Anju will be doing all the big talking all we do is sit there and watch the games.
He looked at me, "Will you be alright out there?"
I nodded, "Of course. Why?"
"Well you've been kinda non-talkative lately and... your not usually like that."
I forced a smile, "I'm fine really. Just still overwhelmed by everything happening."
Mavvie looked at me, I could feel him trying to read me to find out what was really going on. I just couldn't tell him. Not yet.
Hadden's still furious with me for the other night with that woman, my mate.
It felt strange to say it. Mate. I found my mate. And ruined my first impression with her.
Hadden screamed at me to go back to her so much that I ended up putting up a wall between us so I couldn't hear him anymore. Her cries echoed in my head every second. She had desperately called out for me to wait. But I kept running.
Her face haunted me. She haunted me.
And I didn't know what to do.
A knock on the door ripped me from my thoughts, "Hey are you two decent?" Anju said from the other side.
"Yes come in" I called.
They walked in. Anju dress matched Mavvie uniform with the detail to the color red. Winter and I matched blue. The neck collar hid the chain of my pendant and I kept it tucked under my clothes. Winter had a tiara placed on the crown of her head and she had pulled her hair back into a french braid. Anju had kept her hair down and she had her usual crown Dad gave her when she was eighteen.
"Sorry we were just about to head to your room," Mavvie said.
"It's just about time anyways and Dad has something we need to give you both."
Huh?
They pulled out something from behind their backs. Two crowns. Golden crowns with our birthstone color embedded within it. It was shined an polished to perfection.
"Lower your head" Winter ordered as she came closer with mine. I did so lowering my head slightly and she placed it on my head. It fit perfectly on my head. Not too big and not too small. But perfect.
I raised my head up again and looked at Mavvie. His crown fit him perfectly as well. Anju nodded, "You two look like true prince's."
I opened my arms wide and brought us all in for a hug. A sibling hug.
"I love you all so much" I whispered nearly on the verge of tears. After everything I've been through in the past days I needed this more than anything.
I felt Mavvie and Winter's hands on my back and Anju's on my head as they all embraced the hug.
"We are brothers and sisters. There is nothing more powerful than the bond of siblings. In the real wolf world, it is siblings, family, who make up the pack and strengthen the unbreakable bonds in our pack. As long as we love and care for each other, it doesn't matter how many miles apart we are, we will always be together. I love you all."
"I love you guys too, except for you Ice Queen," Mavvie said.
"Ruin this moment and I'll kill you" she responded.
Anju held us tighter, "Behave you two."
A cough distracted us and we turned to see Alpha Lubov, waiting by the door, "It's time your Majesties."
Anju took a deep breath and motioned us to get in position, "Let's show the world who we are."
Proud and tall we walked with the Alpha down the hallways, to the large area that we had all toured yesterday to get a feel of the place. We were brought to a room where a curtain led to the thrones overlooking the arena. Alpha Lubov went first and there were cheers of joy for the Alpha.
We listened closely and silently as he spoke through a loud microphone about the Games.
"Every five years the Great Wolf Games are held in honor for our Moon Goddess, to show her the friendship of our species and come together to honor that we would not be here today without her creation and guidance!"
There were more screams of excitement and I began to feel butterflies in my stomach.
"And not only is it the Goddess we are honoring but the Wolf Kingdom who has protected, guarded and guided our packs for centuries. For years we have had The Great King of Wolves and his magnificent Grand Princess here to watch our Games but this year we have the most spectacular Royals joining us. May I present to you all The Crowned Princess of Wolves Anju Cinkael, Prince Mavvie Cinakel, Princess Winter Cinkael and Prince Harvey Cinkael! Please welcome the children of the Wolf King!"
That was our cue.
We walked out from behind the curtain. The Arena was filled to the max with Werewolves who all cheered for us, I had truly never seen more wolves in one place than there were now. I was amazed. Anju, Winter Mavvie and I all sat down on our Thrones. Mavvie and I kept our arms on the rest while my sisters put their hands in their laps like we practiced.
Lubov gave Anju the microphone and she began to do her speech.
I felt Mavvie make a bond link between us and he spoke one thing.
Let the games begin.
