~Harvey's POV~
My throat was parched, I craved water so badly. I finally felt enough strength to become fully aware.
My eyelids twitched a bit as I struggled to open them. Very faintly I could hear a beeping sound, it sounded like a heart monitor.
Why was there a heart monitor? Where was I? Now that I think about it.
Harvey?
Hey Hadden.
Hey pal... something was wrong, he wasn't sounding like himself, he sounded worried, guilty, and sorrowful.
I'm so sorry Harvey... I'm so, so sorry.
Why are you sorry?
Do you not remember?
I thought for a moment, I'm trying but nothing's coming to me at the moment.
Oh...
Wait a moment, A sick feeling dropped in my stomach. Teeth, claws... ripping into my skin and neck. Screaming, cheering, Howling, fighting. Fighting! I was in a fight! With another wolf, Zakhar.
He tried to kill me! I cried.
Hadden swallowed, Yeah, he did. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you.
It wasn't your fault Hadden, I said finally remembering everything, I turned my back to him. I thought this was over cause I won. How naive I am.
I should have known he'd do something like that.
The scent of my mate caught my attention, she was very near, Can I open my eyes?
I struggled and finally, rays of light shone through. My vision was blurry for a bit.
"Harvey?"
I turned my head to see a woman looking down at me, her blue eyes were wide with joy and worry, "Eska?"
She gave a joyful cry, "Thank the Goddess your awake" she gripped my hand tightly.
"How long have I been out?"
"Four days, yesterday you finally shifted into a human but for the other three, you were stuck in your wolf form."
I was too weak to shift? Shifting didn't take much energy, I must have been in a bad spot.
You were, Hadden whispered sadly.
"Where's my brother and sisters?" I asked her, "I need them to know I'm okay."
She nodded, "Yes they'll be here soon, before you opened your eyes you were starting to stir, so Agafya sent Misha to inform your siblings that you were waking up. I wanted to be here when you woke up."
"Have you been by my side for four days?"
She nodded, "Almost but I never left your side for more than a few minutes."
I squeezed her hand, "Oh Eska have you eaten anything?"
I was relieved when she nodded again, "Yes Misha has been bringing me food while I was here."
The door slammed open and Anju ran in, without stopping she hurried over to me and hugged me, "My little brother..." she began crying, "Thank the Goddess your alright."
I raised my arms to hug her as well, "A Queen shouldn't cry Anju" I joked.
She laughed, "I'll cry whenever the hell I want."
Not seconds later Mavvie ran in with Winter behind him. Mavvie got to me first and pushed Winter away when she tried to push him.
"Harvey" he hugged me.
Anju had stepped back to give us some room, "Mavvie are you feeling alright? I remember you were fighting too."
He lost his joyful smile and got serious, "I will fight anyone for you brother." He brought me in for another hug, "Zakhar's...."
He looked at Anju, "Should we?"
She nodded and Winter spoke before Mavvie could, "Zakhar was found dead in his cell."
I jerked upwards, "Dead!? Who killed him?"
"We don't know... well you might. He was ripped apart and on his cell wall a symbol resembling a wolf with a circle and paw mark was drawn on the wall in his blood."
My blood turned cold as what she said reminded me of a very familiar story I knew by heart.
"Wolfsbane" I whispered.
Anju sat down, "It's a chilling notion that he has killed again after so long."
"Well, he deserved it!" Winter hissed, "We still don't know why he wanted to hurt you."
I remembered what Zakhar told me about my Dad and what he did to all those wolves. I didn't want to believe him, but his rage seemed to real for him to be lying.
I would ask my Dad when we got home about all this, alone. Just him and I.
Eska kissed my forehead, "He's gone now, and your alive, that's all that matters to me."
Another thought came back to me, "Who shot me in the arena?"
Mavvie growled, "Arseni, he and Zakhar are actually brothers as well. He was arrested but... just yesterday some of his goons broke him out and ran away."
"So he's on the run?"
"Yeah but he's a traitor and a criminal wanted for attempted murder throughout Russia. Luka told me it's safe to say in no way will he be leaving Russia anytime soon."
Eska gripped my hand again, "I still don't like him running around."
"Well we won't have to worry about him now since the Blue Waters Pack has indeed won the Games, we will all be returning home. Marcu and Paul have already begun to pack our things" Anju said.
"The Blue Waters Pack did win?"
"Yes, Lubov and Nick were able to track the hacker down and it turned out we did win but Zakhar changed the points to make it seem like we lost," Eska said.
"That raises more questions about why he did this but I'm afraid we'll never know."
I turned to Eska, "I want to bring you home Eska."
She smiled, "And I want to go home with you."
