Alan threw Kaycee a change of clothes as he quickly got dressed. Alexa and Julia came barreling in, followed by Dean and Shawn. Alan immediately began bombarding them with questions.

"What the hell was that?!" Before anyone could answer, another loud bang rang through the house. Shawn motioned for everyone to sit on the floor. Kaycee and Shawn exchanged glances. Shawn motioned towards Kaycee's phone and she grabbed it, tossing it to him. Alan went to speak but Kaycee kissed him, silencing him. As her phone rang, they stayed silent. The group heard a faint sound of a cell phone ringing and they all slowly stood. Alan swept Kaycee into his arms and followed everyone closely behind. As they entered the living room, Shawn grunted in annoyance. Everyone's eyes widened but no one spoke.  Alan had Kaycee lean against the island in the kitchen, but she slowly sunk to the floor. He walked over to the wall and hit the lights.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Alan looked furious.

"I-I don't know." Kaycee was genuinely shocked. Alan huffed and  kneeled in front of her as she rubbed her thigh.

"Ryan! What are you doing here, dude?" Shawn was furious. Ryan looked up from the couch. He was drunk, of course he was. Kaycee, with Alan and Alexa's help, made her way over to the opposite couch and sat. Ryan saw her leg and immediately sobered.

"Kayce?" Ryan moved over to kneel in front of her an placed his hand on her thigh. "How are you?" She shrugged. Alan began to get very protective and walked over to be in Ryan's peripheral view. Ryan noticed Alan's stance and backed off slightly, but kept his hand on her thigh. "If you need anything..." Kaycee interrupted him.

"What do you want, Ryan?" He lowered his head and sighed.

"I heard about what happened and I've been meaning to come sooner..." Kaycee sighed.

"You couldn't have called? Or knocked?" Ryan wore an embarrassed look.

"I'm sorry ." Kaycee lowered her gaze.

"It's late. You should go." Ryan nodded, reaching to kiss Kaycee's cheek but he turn away.

"I'll uh..i'll call you?" Kaycee nodded slowly, avoiding his gaze. Shawn ushered Ryan out the door. Once Ryan was gone, Alan scooped Kaycee into his arms without another word and brought her back to the bedroom, shutting the door abruptly behind him. Everyone in the living room said nothing as they slowly mad their way back to their beds. Alan placed Kaycee on the bed then sat down on the edge of it, rubbing his face.

"What is it?" Kaycee's voice was soft, she knew he was frustrated. Kaycee had told Alan everything that had happened between her and Ryan, including the verbal -and sometimes physical- abuse. Alan turned to Kaycee and sighed.

"He had no right coming here, especially at this time of night. And the fact that he was drunk says volumes about how he hasn't made any effort to improve himself." Kaycee nodded, listening. "He's an ass." Kaycee giggled softly, causing Alan to meet her gaze.

"You're telling me.." Alan felt himself smirk. The light twinkle in Kaycee's eyes brought him back from his anger. He crawled up to her and kissed her softly. He slid back under the covers and helped her do the same, then he pulled her into his chest. She snuggled up to him, sighing contently. "You know that I love you, right?" Alan chuckled and looked down at her.

"Yes, indeed I do." She smiled and tilted her head to kiss him before nuzzling against his chest and closing her eyes. Alan gently rubbed her back as she drifted off to sleep. He, however, had no intention of sleeping. He looked at the clock, 4:37 am. He sighed and looked up at the ceiling. The thought of Ryan, as well as any other man being with Kaycee made Alan's blood boil. He looked down at her petite, sleeping form and took a deep breath. He loved her, there was no doubt. Once she was healed and feeling better he would do it...now isn't the right time...it has to be perfect.

Later that day, once everyone had gotten a sufficient amount of sleep,  Alan went out for the day - purposely not telling Kaycee his intentions. She didn't think anything of it as she spent the day reading in her bed.

Alan, on the other hand, had spent hours and hours browsing through shops and looking for the perfect one. He had been fighting himself all day. Should he even be doing this? He was being impulsive and he knew it but he wanted to be ready. He wanted Kaycee to be ready. He wanted her to know that he really did love her, even though he told her everyday. After feeling much defeat, he unwillingly decided to stop at one last store. The final shop before he went home. This was his last hope. He went in and slowly circled the small shop, scanning every glass case. That's when he found it. It was perfect. He called upon the nearest consultant and immediately purchased it. As he left, he place it in his pocket- the small velvet box snug inside his coat. He'd have to hide it somewhere in his flat so Kaycee wouldn't stumble upon it by mistake. He smiled to himself. He had the ring... now all that was left was to propose. He just had to wait for the right moment... if it would ever come...
