Bad day

Spencer was having a bad day.

He usually tried to see the good side of things but today it just wasn't his day. Not because he woke up late and his car wouldn't start, but because every single cab seemed to ignore him and had to skip his coffee break to catch up on the new case and all of it just made him grumpy.

It was 7 p.m. and he needed to get something to stop the grumble on his belly and ease the headache he got for being hungry, so he decided to go to the local bakery to get something warm, like the big, puffy muffins that seemed to call him every time he passed that store.

He sighed as he walked in, ordering his food and rubbing his temples as he waited.

He was taking the paper bag from the attendant, ready to get comfortable on one of the tables until he felt a thud against his leg and looked down with confusion.

There was a small little boy looking up at him with the biggest eyes he'd ever seen, smiling up at him with his little hands gripping his shirt.

"Hey there," he bent down, "you lost?"

The boy put his hands in Spencer's hair and let out a little laugh. "fluffy" he said, amused.

Spencer laughed. "Yeah, its pretty fluffy, huh?"

The kid suddenly pulled and Spencer couldn't help but hiss, hoping the boy would let go but he didn't. Instead he pulled another strand of hair.

Well, this day just couldn't get worse. he thought to himself, still trying to get his hair out of the little one's hands.

"Max..." Spencer saw someone's feet appear in beside them, and instantly, the kid let go of his hair. "what'd i tell you about pulling peoples hair, huh?" the woman scolded him

The kid looked up at her mom and then turned to Spencer muttering a small 'sorry' before he hid behind the woman's legs.

Spencer got up running a hand through his hair and he got a better look at her. Dark haired and her eyes the same beautiful eyes as her son.

"I'm so sorry about that," she looked up at him, "cheeky little thing dropped my purse and took off" she smiled shyly at him.

"No, don't worry about, i'm having a bad day anyway" he said.

"well, then let me buy you a coffee at least, this guy can be a nightmare sometimes" she ruffled the kids hair. "I'm (Y/N)"

"Spencer" he smiled. (Y/N) payed for the coffee, and handed it to him. "thanks"

"So uh, you gonna be busy later?" she asked, playing with her fingers.

Spencer blushed. "I can find some time," he said, "we could go get dinner or something"

She looked up at him. "That sounds good, yeah." she gave Spencer her phone, looking at her son for a second. "I better go, hes eyeing your hair again"

"Okay, good idea" he laughed, giving the phone back and saying goodbye. He watched her leave and couldn't help thinking that maybe it wasn't such a bad day after all.
