I decided to do some speed writing. Basically you set a timer for fifteen nminutes and see how much you can write/type in that time. The trick is to keep writing.

This is my piece, be warned it may make little or no sense and I've edited it to make it readable. :)

The girl stumbled into the main street, her hair falling across her face. she jumped over a loose cobblestone in the street and kept running. She could hear the heavy footsteps of the guards as they chased after her.

The prize, a gold necklace, was clutched between her fingers and she worked to shove it down her bodice as she ran. If the guards were to catch up to her they wouldn't be able to get it. She gave a wild smile as the city wall loomed closer on the horizon. She made for it, ignoring the growing number of soldiers chasing her. She had to get out of the city as fast as she could.

A cart was pulled in front of her and with a very inhuman leap; she bounded over the cart and kept going. The guards were shouting and the girl snuck a glace over her shoulder as she watched them grind to a halt and skid around the cart and the old man who was pushing it.

From above her she heard a new sound approach; the footsteps were much lighter than the guards so she ignored it and kept on going. She would soon be close enough to leap over the wall.

She chanced a glance up however and was startled to see her companion of times long gone running across the top of the rooves. She did not smile, only attempt to avert her wide eyes back onto the street. He was supposed to be dead. She had no doubt that he was following her so she refrained from calling out to him. They would have time for a catch up later.

With a series of swings and back flips the girl leapt up onto the battlements on top of the wall and in a graceful roll she landed. She watched out of the corner of her eye as her companion soared from the nearest roof and landed just as gracefully beside her. Exchanging a quick glance they nodded and dived over the wall. The girl heard a satisfying clunk as the two soldiers who were stationed on the wall collided in the place she had just been.

She struck out hard for the edge of the moat, her companion not far to her left. She heard a snap as an arrow pierced the water beside her.

Within seconds she was climbing onto land before she resumed running. With ease she dodged the arrows that bore down on her, shifting to the left or the right, even performing somersaults.

Her companion did not bother as his wards protected him. The girl thought little of his return as she made her way to the forest edge. Partners in crime they had once been, but she had managed to survive alone for so long that she doubted she would ever need his help again.

This is really good exercise, especially if you have writers block.

Before I tie this up I'll just make a few updates. I don't see an update for Half-Faye anytime soon, really sorry but I'm a busy person. I am very close to getting my novel done and I'm very excited to see it in book form. I am almost finished the Inheritance Cycle books and hope to finish soon so I get read something else. :)

Cheers,
