Chapter 2- lunch with the girls

Chapter 2

"Come on Bry keep up!" Jenna shouted at me as we walked down the block to Aunty Betty's cafe to meet the rest of the girls. I was just so deep in thought about all this craziness going on in my life at the moment I didn't even realize I was at least 10 feet behind her!

Jogging up beside her she asked "What's on your mind Bry? You haven't been completely there for the last couple of days." Oh I don't know maybe because its going to be the anniversary of the day this all started a year ago in just two short weeks!!! But no, I didn't tell her that because then I would have to tell her everything and that would end up a disaster... So instead I simply said "I just haven't been sleeping to we'll, I think I might be catching a cold. No need to worry" I ended with a small smile on my face but I knew it didn't reach my eyes but Jenna was kind enough to just drop it and we continued to walk towards the little cafe.

Reaching for the door handle the bell above our heads signaled that we were walking in. We reached our booth in the back that we sat at every day an took a seat next to Lola.

"What's going on chicks? How's working in that lovely hospital for you two?"

Me and Jenna just laughed at Lola "Nothing really just the same old same old, and it's awesome we love it!" Jenna replayed with a smile on he face

"Yeah babe, so what's been going on with the college life?" I asked Lola, and yes I refer to her as 'babe' it's kinda my thing, like my catchphrase I use all the time.

"Oh you know just lectures, long walks, and to much home work, but one thing I'm not complaining about is this new star football player who is a transfer student! He is the hottest guy I have ever seen and don't even get me started on how smart he is! He is a history major and he looks damn good in his glasses wen he reads in the library" Lola finishes looking out into space as if she's dreaming about him at this very moment, which I am sure she is by that look I'm her eye

"Awwwwwww Lola has a crush!!!" We all turned around to see Andy walking towards us with a smirk on he lips. Not really surprised that she is late. It's just her. The girl averages to being 5-30 minutes late. But we still love her, tardiness and all.

"Oh you shut up, it's not even a crush. But man let me tell you I would take a piece of him any day, any time!" Lola smirked looking all three of us

"Only you Lola would say that right as we are about to eat. I don't want to think about you taking any piece of a guy when I'm eating my sandwich!" Jenna playfully yelled

All of us burst out laughing because we always say things like this. Just as we started to sober up Betty walked towards us with our usual ( a sandwich that each of us liked, four doctor peppers and four of her famous cupcakes with the flavor each of us preferred) this right here is the reason that me and Jenna walk to the cafe and not drive. We have to walk back to work off all this food so we don't get extremely fat!

Dot get me wrong, none of us are fat! But I definitely have curves and I rather not let them get to much bigger. But I still can't pass up one of Betty's cupcakes! Honestly I don't think anybody can. Once you take a bite your hooked for life!

We ate our lunch talking about Andy's newest project for 'High Top' magazine. She was a journalist and a dang good one at that! We continued to talk about this so called new transfer student at Lola's college and then talked about when we thought Alex was going to finally pop the question the Jenna. They had been going out for 5 years and we knew they would get married it was just the fact of when he would prepose. Now Alex is my best guy friend so he tells me almost everything and he made me swear that if this topic comes up for me to change the subject because he wants it to be a total surprise when he pops the question. He won't tell me when he is going to do it but I know it's going to be soon! Honestly I can't wait to see them married! I just hope i will get to see it... Uhggg 'stop think about that Brylee!' I told myself. This is no time to start asking what ifs because you don't know what's going to happen. No news has been heard yet, so I hope that's a good sign.

We finished our food, said our goodbyes to Betty and Jim and each other and left in separate directions to go back to work and college for Lola.

Betty and Jim are the owners of the cafe that we go to. We have been going there since 10th grade. Betty and Jim were like grandparents to us since they never had kids of there own or grandchildren. They treated us as family and we did the same to them. Betty and Jim have known my family since before I was born so they really were very close to my heart. I loved them both to death as we all did!

Getting back to work I went through my the files of my next patient. When I read the name my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. This can't be the person I'm thinking of! No it can't! Why was he at this hospital? Okay so this may be knew and it may be nicer but I know were he lives, everybody knows where he lives and there are 2 other hospitals closer to him! OH. MY. GOD. I have to go in there and talk to him! I can't decide if this is my lucky day or is my absolute worst nightmare!

"Brylee you need to go to room 4, I don't want him waiting any longer it's bad for the hospital name!" The head nurse over the floor scolded me as I stood frozen by the door. I tried to unclinch my hands and take a few deep breaths to calm my nerves. Gently grasping the door handle I pulled it down and walked into the room. There he set in all his glory that I have only ever seen on the magazines that Andy wrote articles in. Taking one more deep breath I smiled slightly.

"Good afternoon Mr.Anderson, I'm Brylee Carson."

His deep chocolate eyes sparkled and the corners of his lips lifted into an arrogant smirk. "Please Ms.Carson call me Red."
