Chapter 55

Lana's P.O.V.
I slam the trunk shut. I wasn't very happy about this. I wanted Caitlin to be human, I knew this was the only way she could be happy, but she was going to be vulnerable. I walk to the drivers door but it's slammed shut. I look up to see Damon. "Damon, what can I help you with?"

"Where is she?"

"Waiting for me, I made her a promise. Now move."

"How do you know this works?''

"I don't, but I'm willing to try. She wants this." I pause. "She needs this. She may be vulnerable but this is clearly the thing she needs, and I'm going to give it to her. I thought you would be happy, your girlfriend will be happy."

"Excuse me for not believing this will work when there's no proof."

"At least I'm trying. Now move before I make you." Damon looks at me for a second before moving. I get in and drive off.

Caitlin's P.O.V.
I sit down while waiting for Josh to be done setting up. "Done. Now we need the spell." He grabs both of my hands. "You ready?" I nod.

I look at Lana. "Thank you, for everything." She nods and smiles. Josh starts chanting and soon I get dizzy but I stay still. I try to keep awake but soon enough I can't and I black out.

I sit up immediately. I look out the window and I see it's dark. I turn to see Lana. "Did it work?" She asks. I shrug and see a knife on the table. I grab it and cut my hand. I grin when it doesn't heal. Lana chuckles. "I'll go grab some bandages." She comes back and bandages my hand. I hear the door open and I look up to see Damon.

He sees my bandaged hand and looks at me. "It worked?"

I nod. Lana and Damon exchange a look. "What is it?" I ask.

"We talked on the phone while you were out...and we think you should leave Mystic Falls and live a normal life.'' Lana says.

I laugh at that. "Normal? I wasn't normal before and I won't be now."

Damon sighs. "Caitlin there's no Vervain in your system. Don't make me compell you." I look at the two and I sigh.

"I can't go. Damon, please don't."

Lana looks at Damon. "I can do it Damon."

He shakes his head as he walks closer to me. "Don't. Please."

Damon looks me in the eyes. "I'm sorry. You'll forget everyone and everything in Mystic Falls. You never had any family and you're just trying to live a normal life. You'll never come back."

"I'll forget everything. I never had any family and I'm just trying to live a normal life. I'll never come back." I look at a man and a woman, who looks exactly like me. "Do I know you?"

The man shakes his head and leaves. The woman walks over and gives me a bag and some money. "This is for when you first start out. Be careful." She leaves and I'm left alone.
