Chapter 42

I sit at the bar drinking a bottle of vodka. I hear someone sit next to me so I turn my head to see Damon.

"Did you kill the pastor and the rest of the council?"

"No...unless I did it as a wolf..." Damon shakes his head.

"How are you doing?"

"Fine. Just sore." he nods and I stand up. "Well I should go home and get ready for the funeral." He nods and I leave.

I stand at the church. "Caitlin!" I see Elena with April, the daughter of pastor Young.

"Hey." Elena smiles.

"April you remember Caitlin right?"

"Of course she does. I'm the drunk." Elena glares at me and April chuckles nervously. I can see the slight panic in Elena and she rushes off.  I look at April. "I'm sorry about your dad." she nods.

"Thanks..." she looked slightly uncomfortable.

"May Pastor Young rest in peace." I offer her the smallest smile and I walk off.

That's when I smell blood. My face changes and I look down. I feel a tap on my shoulder and I change my face back to normal. "Are you alright ma'am?"

"Yes." he smiles and nods. "I'm Connor."

"Caitlin." I shake his hand and I feel Vervain. I squeeze his hand to hide my hand shaking and I smile. He pulls his hand away and I hide mine.

"What was that burning sound?" I shrug and I spot Damon.

"I have to go nice to meet you." he nods and I walk to Damon. "We have a problem..."

"What is it?"

"There's a vampire hunter in town."

While the funeral is going on I can hear blood dripping. The smell was driving Elena crazy.

"She needs blood." I mumble. Matt looks around.

"She can feed from me. People will think that it's just her crying into my neck." We all nod even though Elena is hesitant. She starts to drink from Matt and when we can't see April I instantly know who's blood it belongs to. Tyler goes up to talk and is shot. Everyone runs out and I see Damon rush out. I follow him and when I get out I see Connor about to kill him. My face changes and I rush at Connor pushing him off with my hybrid strength. He looks surprised and knows he can't take both of us in so he leaves. My face changes back to normal and I help him up.

"Are you okay?" Damon nods.

The next day I'm with Tyler at his house. "This sucks!" Tyler yells.

"I. Hate. Klaus." I say agreeing. Klaus had his hybrids watch us while we were at Tyler's house.

"You guys whine too much." Both me and Tyler shot up and turn around to see Haley.

"Haley." We both say in unison.

"How do you know her?" I ask Tyler.

"Sire bond you?"

"I turn with her every full moon at the farm." he nods slowly.

"And how do you two know each other?" she asks.

"We're friends." I say as Tyler says "We used to date." We look at each other making Haley laugh.

"Well nice to see you hybrid."She smiles at Tyler. "And alpha." I glare at her.

"I hate that nickname." I mumble.
