He felt like he wanted to be sick, the smell of flesh and blood, especially how familiar it was.

Liam...

How could this of happened?

Malia was with him but even she looked a little ill. Everyone else had refused to see the remains. He'd literally been torn apart.

Liam's head was crushed and torn from his body, his fingers had been pulled from his hands. One hand had been snapped of the wrist, both of his arms had been twisted from their sockets. Legs had been ripped apart and pulled from his body or what was left of it.

They couldn't even make out his expression because it was so bloodied and beaten up but Derek knew it was probably good they couldn't see his face properly, they didn't want to see the agony and fear that most likely would have been on it.

Derek had seen a lot of death in his time but this... this was something else.

Even Malia looked a little ill.

She said hesitantly "He looks like what my food used to look when I was a coyote, though I killed and tore it apart so I could eat it more easily, nothings missing here, it definitely wasn't an animal attack"

Derek nodded, agreeing "What ever killed him did it because it wanted too and no other reason than that"

He shuddered slightly at the thought. Was it the Pagen god who killed him? But then why would they kill Liam, especially like that?

He walked out of the plastic tent that had been put over the murder scene, Malia following him out.

The pack were with the Sheriff waiting for him.

"It's him right? I wasn't too sure, I couldn't recognise much" The Sheriff said grimly.

Derek nodded while glancing at Scott, wanting to see his reaction "It's him"

Scott avoided eye contact with everyone as he said shakily "I-I thought so, I felt something, it just felt like... something was missing"

Derek narrowed his eyes slightly at that, you didn't just feel something when a pack member died, for an alpha felt like someone had chopped your arm off, like someone had torn a limb from you...

To everyone else who didn't understand what Derek did it just must look like Scott was to upset and shocked about what happened to talk about it but Derek knew better.

Was it...

Was it Scott that had done this?

Stiles stood next to Scott, he looked more pale than usual and serious but other than that he didn't look as upset as Scott but he wasn't that close to Liam so that was to be expected.

Kira clung on to Scott, suppressing horrified tears. Lydia looked like a ghost but her eyes were hard, Derek knew who ever had done this would definitely have a furious banshee on their tail soon.

"Let me through! Let me through!"

The Sheriff suddenly stood in the way of a boy Derek didn't recognise at first.

The cops surrounding the crime scene had been to late to catch him, accidentally letting him through.

"You can't see this Mason" Stiles father said firmly, though his face was awash with sympathy for the young man.

"Get out of my way!" Mason cried out, trying to get passed but the Sheriff stood firm.

"Mason" He said softly, saying everything he needed to say with one word.

Liam's best friend glanced at the pack as if asking for help or even denial at what had happened, no one looked him in the eyes or responded.

"No! No, no! Let me through, he's-he's my best friend, please!" Mason yelled, his voice cracking at the end.

The Sheriff didn't respond, his eyes filled with sorrow.

Mason burst into tears. Sinking to his knees.

The Sheriff told the pack to get going with his eyes, he'd talk to Mason and when Liam's step father came, in private. He definitely couldn't let them see what had happened to Liam, it would be far to much for them to take.

Scott got everyone together, moving the pack of the crime scene. Derek suddenly stiffened, his heart accelerating he swore... he swore he'd just seen Scott smile a little.

Just for a second.

However what he didn't see was Stiles expression when he was the last to leave the crime scene from the pack.

He glanced back at the sobbing Mason.

With no one looking, Stiles smiled too...
