au= alternative universe. These characters are made up and they aren't real but I based Luke, Ashton, Michael and Calum on 5 Seconds of Summer.

*16th January 2041*

Walking down the empty school halls is what I do regularly; I'm always late for class. You know that girl that's never organised and is always late? Yeah that's me.

My echoing footsteps are the only sound disturbing the silence of the deserted halls. When I arrive at my class I swing the door open and nearly fall straight on my face.

"Kerri, your late, again, I see" The teacher said writing my name on the board in thick pen.

"Sorry I was at the doctors." I said going red because I knew that wasn't true.

"You use that excuse every single time Kerri." he said staring right into my soul

"I-"

"just sit down you've already caused too much disruption today." he said pointing to my seat

I take my seat and shoved my bags underneath my feet. While the teacher drones on about work I get my pen out and start chewing the lid.

Everyone's been doing work for ten minutes but I don't know what we're doing so I keep chewing my pen lid and staring out the distant window. I hear the door creak and slowly it opens I look up and a pale, muscular looking boy stood at the door. His piercing eyes stood out from his pale skin and were shining in the light from the window.

"Ah- class this is Ashton he is our new student, he has moved from Australia so please be nice to him..... Ashton you can sit next to Kerri over there." he said pointing my way so I waved so he knows who I am.

He came and sat next to me slouching and chewing gum making bubbles. Just because I'm always late and unorganised doesn't mean I'm not nice; I have to introduce myself,

and also break the ice

"Hi I'm Kerri" I said smiling.

"Ashton....nice to meet you" He said looking into my doe brown eyes and then looking away

"So how comes you moved from Australia to England. It's freezing why would you want to move here?" I said laughing

"Family issues." he simply responded drawing in his book.

"Oh, I'm sorry." My smile dropped and I touched his arm to try to comfort him.

"Don't be..." He said digging the pen harder into the book. For some reason that small action made me feel intimidated and too scared to say anything else.

My first two classes went by quickly and before I knew it I was meeting my friend, Ruby. At break we have cheerleading so we go down to the gym to practise for the finals.

"So I heard there is a new boy, very mysterious" she said 'mysterious' in a posh voice while wiggling her eyebrows,

"Yeah... he sits next to me in science he is really quiet and... well yeah he's mysterious" I said laughing.

"So Is he hot?" she asked picking up her pom poms.

"I dont know if he is my type he's too quiet for me" I said then pursing my lips. In my head I think he's quite hot in some ways.

"Come on, I've heard he is really good looking and that he plays drums. Ohh and he's Luke's new friend" she said budging me

"luke.....he plays guitar so maybe they might start a band" I said laughing and doing the eyebrow dance.

"Enough talking about your hot brother and his new 'mysterious' friend....lets go." She giggled running to the center of the gym to join the other cheerleaders.
