*22nd January 2041*

This weekend so far has been eventful, it's been full of fights, arguments and secrets. Hopefully today will be better.

I woke up, rubbed my eyes and I jumped at the sight of ashton standing by my window. I glared at him, he scared the living crap out of me! My glare resided and a confused expression took it's place as a thought came to mind.

"Ashton, did you watch me sleep?" I said quietly.

"Yeah, I didnt want to wake you up, you look adorable sleeping." He fluttered his eye lashes and took a step towards me.

"Thanks for the compliment but you're not wanted here." I snapped as I looked at my window which now had an Ashton-sized hole in it with glass scattered all over my floor.

"Sorry about the window, I kind of broke it." He mumbled bitting his lip and wringing his hands nervously.

"Ashton do you realise how much trouble I'm going to get in?" I exclaimed.

We just sat in silence for a while, not one word came out of his mouth as I cleaned the glass on the floor.

"Ouch!" I hissed as a bit of glass got lodged in my fingertip. I bit my lip as I pulled it out, making it bleed.

"Please, keep the blood away from me." Ashton's eyes were wide as he covered his mouth and nose.

"Ashton, if you cared for me you wouldn't be tempted to drink my blood." I walking over to him showing him my finger closely.

"But I'm not taking any chances." He countered licking his lips.

"Ashton just try." I pleaded, pulling his hand towards me and letting a few drops of my blood drip onto his pale, cold finger.

"See, it's ok." I reassured Ashton, looking at him differently than I did before. It's like he isn't as distant around me and he treats me dissimilarly but in a good way.

"You didn't hurt me."

"Kerri, I have to go." He grumbled, walking over the bits of glass left on the floor.

"Ashton, you're trying to run away from your problems, can you just talk to me!" I insisted squeezing his arm as I tried to pull him back towards me.

"Kerri, there's too much to talk about." Ashton sighed looking at me over his shoulder.

"Come on ashton, please, I'm a good listener." I smiled gently at him.

"Alright." He simply replied.

We plopped onto my bed, with me sitting on my pillows and Ashton at the foot of the bed.

"I like you a lot, I've never really felt it before... and I'm sorry if I've brought it up too fast." He shifted away from me.

"Ashton it's ok I've never been liked by a vampire before so don't worry." My cheeks were warm from blushing.

"But im scared that if I like you I won't be able to keep you safe. There are bad people out there, the world isn't a safe place." He stared into my eyes as he gripped my hand.

"Like the Knights-"

"How do you know about them?" Ashton breathed out in shock.

"I've done a lot of research, I know they're a family on the run trying to find a family called the Irwins." I absentmindedly said while fiddling with his thumbs.

"The Irwins?" His voice was shaky and abrupt as he jerked away quickly as if I said something bad.

"Yeah, apparently, they have been trying to find the last person in the Irwin family, whats his name..." I trailed off getting up and collecting the paper scanning for the name. I froze staring at the paper. The name looked so familiar...Ashton Irwin.

"You?" I said letting the paper drop back onto my desk.

"Yes, I've been running for 40 years they have successfully killed my parents, cousins, friends and my...wife." He sighed sitting on the bed further away from me than ever.

The word wife just echoed in my head. He has a wife... why didn't he tell me? He's told me secrets but not this one.

"You have a wife!??" I said trying to catch my breath.

"Yes...I hated her I wanted a divorce, she wouldn't let me. So in the end I.. I killed her"

"You killed your wife because you fell out of love with her." My voice shook as I spoke.

"No it was because she wanted to become a vampire and live with me forever. But it never worked out; I took too much blood and injected too much poison." He said getting up and walking over to me, he gripped my shoulder firmly.

"Ashton, how could I ever trust you? What if you do it to me." I said flicking his hand off of my shoulder.

"That was 30 years ago, I've changed a lot since then, I really have." Ashton begged me and placing his hand back on my shoulder again, making me twitch.

"Ashton I don't know wether to trust you still or to tell you to leave and never come near me again." I said placing my head in my hands.

"I'm too conspicuous." I heard Ashton mumble and felt his head shake slightly. Conspicuous. That word keeps popping up everywhere, what does he mean he's conspicuous?

He pulled me into him so that my back was leaning on his chest and his arm snuck around my waist. His cold skin made me shiver and I unconsciously lent closer to him.

"Kerri, I might be a vampire but it doesn't change how much I like you." He said whilst playing with stands of my hair.

Ashton spun me around to face him and his gold-specked emerald eyes stared into mine. His hand reached up to brush my hair back. I automatically looked downwards but Ashton lifted my chin lightly. Our eyes met again and  we slowly leant in towards each other until our lips met. It was only a small kiss but it was all I needed for a small smile to make it's way to my lips. It may have been short but I know that his lips are soft and plump.

"Sorry, I couldn't hold back. I had to do that." He mumbled as he rushed to climb out of the window, not letting me process what just happened.

"Ashton what do you mean? It was a small peck on the lips not sex!" I exclaimed, running to the window.

"You aren't my girlfriend so I dont want to do more than that because I'm not disrespectful." He stated then turned around, spreading his arms.

"See you tomorrow." He whispered before leaping from the windowsill and speeding into the distance.
