My meeting with Chen Qi, my fifth disciple is the most interesting yet. He is an average build with black hair and thick brows that make him look much older than he is. What I find interesting about his features are the hazel blue eyes, they almost look like glass which is in complete contrast to the darker tones of his hair and natural ruddy complexion. Though not overly handsome, his vanity is in his air of self importance, which gives one the impression you are in the presence of someone great.
Son of a West Seas Palace Guard and a West Seas Maid, the boy grew up in and around The West Seas Palace, becoming a close friend of Die Feng. His interest is in the magic of the Realms, and his knowledge is vast having spent much of his time in the West Seas Library or with their own Tutors of Magic and having seen his potential for greatness, they took him under their wing. When his knowledge surpassed their own, he was sent to me for further training.
His magical knowledge covered most of the realms including the dark arts of the lower realms, which I felt he had an unhealthy interest in. But I continued to let him talk about his passion, one of which was the ability to remove a persons spirit to kill them without the need for fighting which he had no interest in, and his passionate desire for The Fox Clans secret magic which was consuming him.
His inability to secure their knowledge had him set his eyes on Bai Qian now that he knew who she was, and nor was he secretive about his desire of her either, hence his earlier anger. In fact, I found the boy to be dangerous, and couldn't help but wonder why I had taken him in. Had I wanted to keep him under guard? There is something about this disciple, something I have definitely forgotten, something important and it involves Bai Qian. And as for his desire for Bai Qian and his desire for the Fox Clans secret Magic, I would be keeping a very close eye on this disciple, after I have had a few words with Die Feng.
"Shifu, would you like to see a new magic spell that I have just recently learnt." he asked, breaking into my thoughts as I wondered what to do with this disciple. I was intrigued by his suggestion, not just for the sudden darkening of his eyes, which instantly made me uncomfortable, but I was also at curious. From what he has told me so far, his magical knowledge far exceeds all of my disciples.
Agreeing he promptly leads me to the elixir chamber where he pulls a small vial out of his sleeve pocket. Lifting it so I can see, it is small spider, a common variety that he had collected from the mortal realm and it seems to be in some kind of preservative.
Tipping the vials contents out into a bowl, he picks the spider up and places it into the elixir chamber. Then throwing a barrier around me, he begins to draw his energy up from within, and I am immediately drawn to the colour of it. His energy is black! The colour from the dark realms, and it is throbbing wildly about him as he builds it up. I feel as if I should stop him, but I want to see what he is going to do with this magic, when he suddenly launches an enormous bolt of it at the elixir chamber, which instantly fires up, and as it is in motion, he pulls a small flute from his pocket and begins to play it. It is a sweet tune which is almost hypnotizing, and amazingly the flute is producing an energy of its own, of which the color is a very deep green which floats around the chamber and mingles with his own darker energy. It is then that I realize the flute is countering the darkness of his own magic which is allowing the cauldron to work!
It doesn't take long, only a few minutes before the door of the chamber is suddenly thrown wide and his energy draws back into his body. Putting the flute away, and lowering the barrier around me, he beckons me forward to see what it is he has produced. I'm wary but the excitement gets the better of me as I rush forward to look into the chamber.
No sooner am I at the door, when I come to a complete halt in shock. The little spider is now the size of a human, and though it's body isnt moving, it is definitely alive, as its eyes are looking directly at me. The glare from the this enormous spider is penetrating deeply into me and I am not liking it at all, in fact, it feels extremely evil.
