Song of the Chapter: Oh NaNa, KARD

- - -

IT DIDN’T TAKE A LOT TO DISTRACT JIN FROM HIS STUDIES.

Though Jin was an excellent student, he hated studying. He understood why he had to do it, of course, and his parents would cut off his allowance if his grades slipped, but it didn’t make the activity any more enjoyable.

Add in the fact that one of his classes ran overtime, thus screwing up his entire schedule, so he was at the library much later than usual, and studying became simply unbearable.

So it was no wonder that Jin would frequently take little breaks, pausing every so often as his exhaustion set in and the words blurred together on the page, to take quick walks around the library. And it was on one of these small excursions in which everything changed.

It all changed as he walked through the aisles, idly grazing the shelves, when his hand met something other than the cool spines of the books. It all changed as his body unexpectedly collided into another. It all changed as he had an apology ready, the words dying on his lips as he looked at the person he crashed into.

It all changed when Jin saw him.

Jin couldn’t help but stare.

Well,” the man in front of him grinned, and Jin’s initial thought was that this very attractive man had the most glorious dimples oh my God.

In a futile attempt to appear desirable, Jin pulled out a random book, pushed his bangs out of his face, and took off his reading glasses. I wish I looked half as attractive than he does in glasses; I mean, I look okay, but he looks so-

“Oh!” Jin shook his head, snapping out of his attraction-induced daze. “I’m sorry for crashing into you.” He laughed, partly to lighten the mood and partly because oh my God my life is a joke.

“No worries,” the man replied, running a hand through his hair. “Though I am wondering why you’re holding…” he tilted his head to read the title, “The Complete Guide to Raising Whales.

Oh my God, I can’t just tell him I was being lazy and procrastinating, he looks so smart, I don’t want to look stupid in front of him, what do I say-

“Marine Biology major,” Jin lied, attempting to appear confident. Much to his chagrin, however, the man laughed. “Is that why I saw you with a stack of corporate management earlier, Mr. Marine Biology major?” He leaned in the slightest bit. “Or, should I say, Mr. CEO?

Oh God, I’m busted, it’s over, my life is over- wait, that was really hot. Is he flirting with me? Oh my God, what do I say-

“You know,” Jin smirked. “When they say that you’re supposed to come to the library to study, they didn’t mean study the people.”

The man flushed. “Couldn’t help myself,” he took a step closer to Jin, resulting in a sharp inhale. “I was wondering why I hadn’t seen your pretty face around here.”

“I’m usually asleep this late at night.” Jin lightly yawned, as if to prove his point. “But you might change that.”

“Oh, if we’re staying up at night, it’s definitely not going to be for this,” the man breathed as he took another step to Jin, placing one hand by Jin’s head. “I want to-”

Their shameless flirting was interrupted by the shelf behind Jin’s head crashing to the floor. They stared in amusement at the display on the floor in front of them before the man sighed. “Fuck, I should probably…” He squatted down, picking up books and placing them in stacks, then pulling up the shelf.

Where did he buy those pants? Because they're definitely doing him well- wait-

“I’ll help-” Jin offered, cut off as he yawned so hard his jaw cracked. “-you,” he finished, but the man was shaking his head.

“No, you need to sleep.” He rose, then gently stroked the darkening shadows under Jin’s eyes. “I’ll take care of it, it’s not too bad.”

Not that bad? He just knocked over a bookshelf. "That looks like a lot, though-"

"No, it's fine, this has happened before." He's done this before?

"Oh?" Jin muttered, heartbroken.

"Yes- wait no, not like this, I'm just really clumsy, I swear you're the first I've done this to-"

Jin giggled. "Are you saying I'm your first?"

The man facepalmed. "No, I'm saying you need to go. Sleep."

“I’m not that tired-” Jin protested, cut off by yet another yawn.

“Yes, you are. Now you’re either going to leave right now to sleep, or I’ll drag you there myself, and I don’t think you want a stranger knowing where you live.”

“I wouldn’t mind if that stranger was you,” Jin murmured, knowing that the man was right, but not wanting to let him go.

The man breathlessly laughed. “How am I supposed to-” he grinned at the ceiling. Looking back at Jin, he said, “Maybe another time.”

Another time? Jin couldn't help the smile on his face as he stood still, not wanting to leave until the man gently pushed him away. “Go. I’ll put your books back for you.”

“I-” Jin started, but the man rested his finger on Jin’s lips. “Goodnight.”

Jin had no energy at this point but to comply.

“Goodnight.”

Guess who did a thing? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'm excited, here's hoping you like how this goes.

The "Song of the Chapter" is gonna be a thing most of the time, I hope, and it's basically the song (or songs) that best describe the mood of the chapter.

And yeah. I hope you like this!

xx Bex
