SotC: REWIND, B.A.P

- - -

SPEECHLESS. UTTERLY SPEECHLESS.

After reading through N’s letter, Jin couldn’t speak. It was like his words were all vacuumed away.

Jin was speechless.

No wonder why he completely dropped off the face of the Earth.

God, he was here, going through all this shit, and I thought he was just being a jerk. I called him a player… Jin rubbed his temples as he fell back on his bed, choking back a sob with a loud sigh.

Why can't we just rewind to the beginning?

“What’s wrong, hyung?” Taehyung worriedly asked.

I fucked up and I want to go back and make things right but I can't--

Jin hadn’t said a single word ever since he walked back into his dorm, simply flopping down on his bed and occasionally sighing. Needless to say, Jimin and Taehyung were concerned.

(Yoongi, on the other hand, was paying attention until Jimin's fingers running through his hair caused him to fall asleep.)

Jin exhaled heavily again. “Can you two do me a favor?”

As Jimin and Taehyung nodded, Jin reached into his box underneath his bed, pulled out something and slipped it into his pocket. “You said your R.A. left, right? Could you take me to his room?”

A pause as the two underclassmen processed his admittedly strange request.

“Uh,” Jimin spoke uncertainly. “I don’t think we can take you in his room? I mean, it’s still his.”

“No, just--” Jin frustratedly ran a hand through his hair. “Just take me to the front door?”

The two youngest boys turned to each other, then Jimin turned back to Jin and nodded. “Sure, I’ll lead the way.”

As the trio walked out the room and down the hall, Jimin laughed. “Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve actually been to my room.”

Taehyung rolled his eyes. “Do you want me to lead the way instead?”

“No, it’s okay, I don’t think I’ll get lost.” A pause. “Okay, I’m lost.”

“My God-- here, just turn this way and go up these stairs.” Taehyung replaced Jimin’s spot as leader, then followed his own directions until they appeared on the next floor. “Our hall’s pretty small, so it’s kind of hidden; it only has--”

“Three rooms, right?” Jin interrupted.

Taehyung looked at him strangely. “Yeah, how did you know?” Hearing Jin’s lack of an answer, he cut through the awkward silence with an announcement. “We’re here.”

On the first door in the hall, there was a plaque labeled Resident Assistant. And underneath that, a photo of the person living in said room.

Jin slid a photo out of his back pocket and held it up, comparing it to the one on the door.

The shorter, dark-haired boy in his photo didn’t match the picture on the door, but the other person in the picture, with the lighter hair and dimples…

Jin paled.

Shit.

Jimin and Taehyung crowded behind Jin-- Jin thought he heard a holy fuck from Taehyung, but he didn’t really pay attention to them.

“I fucked up.” Jin muttered. “I fucked up, I fucked up, fuck, I fucked up.”

Jimin looked back and forth between Jin and the door, then the photo and Taehyung, bouncing back and forth between his surroundings without understanding the situation. It then clicked. “Holy shit, that’s-”

“Yup.” Jin cut him off as Taehyung violently nodded. “And he’s going through this whole thing, and he just told me what it is, but I basically told him I hated him and now I need to fix it but I can’t, oh God-”

“Shhh, take deep breaths.” Jimin breathed slowly to demonstrate, and Jin copied him, eventually relaxing a bit. “Okay? We can fix this.”

“How? He’s going to lose his place here, I won’t be able to see him again, I can’t even contact him-”

“I have his number.”

Jin turned to Taehyung. “What?”

Taehyung nodded. “I drank a bit-- not enough to get drunk, but enough to not remember how to get to where the hell I lived. So I kinda bumped into a bunch of buildings and wound up in the library. He was putting back a bunch of books from some fallen bookshelf? Something like that. Anyway, he guided me back to my room, then laughed because he found out he was my R.A., and saved his number in my phone if I ever got lost again.”

“Do you have his name, too?” Jin asked. Taehyung scrolled through his phone, then shook his head. “Nope, it’s just saved as ‘R.A.’ Sorry.”

A chance to change everything? To rewind back to the past, before all this shit happened?

“Are you kidding me? The fact that I have his number alone is fantastic. Thank you, Tae,” Jin gushed as Taehyung entered the number in Jin’s phone. “And you, too, Jimin, for your help.”

“No problem! But where are you going?” Taehyung responded

I'm going to fix everything.

Jin turned to them with a smile.

“I’m off to get my man.”

A turning point of sorts.

The angst may or may not be over-- for now, at least.

Much love,
