Chapter One:
The New Guy
Sam's POV:
I walked through my school with my head hung low. I hoped that Janice or Josh wouldn't see me. They were my siblings, but also my bullies. You see, my mom died when I was 13 I was helping her take out the trash, when a gang of drunk older guys put a gun to my head. I screamed, but they told me if I squirmed, I would die. My mom looked at me and in her eyes I saw so much care, but also fear. She then stepped forward and told them to kill her instead. I remember screaming and crying for her to just go inside, but she didn't budge. As soon as the man realized me my mom told me to go inside and get help. I ran so fast that my legs turned numb. As soon as I reached the phone I called 911. But it was too late. My mom was gone.
I grieved so long. I couldn't help but think that it was my fault. Unfortually, my father and siblings thought it was my fault to. There hasn't been one day I haven't thought of my mom and still, to this day I am known by my whole family, as the girl who let Lily die. That was my mom's name. Lily.
I suddenly tripped and was brought out of my deep thought. I fell to the ground and I knew there would be a bruise on my knee in the morning. I looked up and saw just the person I wanted to see, Josh. Josh laughed, tilting his head back slightly. His large jock friends high-fived him, but suddenly turned to me.
One of them had dark brown hair and freckles and was named Will, he was my brothers best friend. He said snotty to my, "Oh no! Looks like you'll have a bruise there, it will compliment the beauty you don't have!" All of the other guys stood there laughing. I wasn't really offended because I had no idea how that "joke" made any sense. But then another guy pulled me up by gripping my shoulder and spat in my face saying,
"At least it won't be permanent, like you killing your mother!" Then he dropped me on the floor and crashed his knee into my ribcage, punched my nose and walked away along with my d-bag brother and his d-bag friends. I let a small tear release from my eyes and roll down my cheek. I stared at my hands and touched my nose, searching for blood, which I found.
Suddenly, I heard a soft voice asking if I was alright. I knew that I didn't know this person because they had an accent, Australian I think. I looked up and saw a tall boy with dirty blond hair spiked up. He had a small hoop on his lip and had the most dreamy blue eyes that you could stare at all day. As I was staring into them intensely, he said, "Hello?" I quickly replied to his first question and said softly, "Oh, um, yeah I'm fine....I guess." He stared at me for a while them said, "You don't look alright, let me help you."
