My little break was sadly ended when I decided to drag my ass to school that morning. No friends greeted me as I dragged my feet into the high school.

Then in the distance I saw some beautifully blue hair. I only knew one guy who would dye the shit out of his hair.

"Sam," Michael yelled over the crowd. With elbows and bony fingers, he tried to maneuver himself over to me. At his tall height of around six feet, he easily shoved everyone aside.

I tilted my head down trying to avoid the guy I met one time at the garbage can.

Flashback:
"I'm Michael."

What really took me off guard through was when he strait up asked me some personal shit. It felt like a college interview.

"What's your full name?"

"Ummm Samantha Ally Hunt."

"What's your favorite subject?"

"English class."

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"No....."

"Do you have a car?"

"Yeah."

"Will you give me your number?"

"Listen dude I don't know you so, bye."

With that I stood up and walked away. Little did I know that Michael wasn't giving up that easily.

He trailed behind me and persistently asked me questions that I didn't answer. He mouth was a motorboat.

Eventually, he lightly grabbed my arm and said, "Listen I'm sorry, but I get nervous around girls as beautiful as you. I think your really cool and I know that because we have some classes together.."

I cut him off and questioned him, "You know I get bullied, I'm the freak of our year, my siblings are planning my death wish, my mom died when I was young, my dad hates me, and I'm social suicide?"

All Michael said was, "So."

And for some reason that made me give him the time of my day. I think I have four friends now.

End of flashback.

I would have stopped to talk to him, but my annoying self could be a real pain in the ass at times.

There was no point of me trying to ignore him though because Michael was already in front of me waiting for me to compliment his new hair.

As I walked away, Michael persistently followed me, hinting the bright blue that colored his scalp. I didn't want to give him the pleasure of admiring his hair, so I walked on pretending that I didn't notice it.

Eventually I stopped in my tracks turning around, "Stop following me!"

Michael looked taken back as he raised his hands in defense, "Sam calm down, we have first period together." I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks as I muttered, "Oh sorry."

I guess I never noticed who sat in the back of the class. I was always in the front either paying strict attention to the teacher or spacing out. I felt bad that I never acknowledged Michael's presence in the classroom. Maybe I should pay more attention. I need to get out of my own world and put myself together.

I could tell that I either embarrassed or angered Michael because he was now a few steps behind me. After my internal motivational speech I said to him,

"I'm sorry. I need to start being nicer to the people who treat me as a person, not a demon. Can we start over?"

Michael just stared at me, expecting me to go on, "I'm Sam," I said sticking out my hand for a shake.

"I'm Michael," he said completing the handshake.

---

Soon enough second period rolled around and I found myself sitting in the front with a girl that transferred this year. Every day in class she would try to introduce herself.

Day 1: "Hey I'm Emily."
Day 2: "You didn't reply to me yesterday, but I'm Emily."
Day 3: "What's your name."
Day 4: "You know what, I've heard about you, but I don't judge you. I'm Emily."
Day 5: This is the last day I will attempt to speak to you. Hi I'm Emily what's your name."
Day 6: "I'm done."
Day 7: "I'm EMILY!"

Today was a different day, I turned to her and confidently spoke,
"I'm Sam."

After the look of bewilderedness washed over Emily's face, she gathered herself enough to reply,
"Emmmilyyyyy."

Instead of paying attention to Mr. Farmington's intro into calculus applied to real life, we made small talk. At one point he even yelled at me. It was thrilling!

Our conversation spread to how hot the world religion teacher was to embarrassing zoo stories. At the end of the period Emily did the unexpected,
"You want to go get some ice cream after school and visit that new boutique on the corner?"

I hesitated, but was feeling out of it today, so I practically squealed, "Yeah!"

Emily and I worked out the plans and right as she was about to walk away, she spotted someone in the distance. Her jaw dropped to the ground and she said to me out of breath,

"D-do you k-know who he is?"

My head turned with her finger and there was Luke walking down the hall. His eyes locked with mine and he made his way towards us. Next to me, Emily looked like she was about to faint.
Emily was only able to squeak out,
"He is so hot."

I could almost see the drool forming in her mouth, but before Luke got too close, Emily ran off. I called after her,bit she was long gone.

My attention returned to the nice boy that happened to enjoy drinking a bit too much.

Luke stopped in front of me and loudly said, "I broke it off Samantha." I was confused so he elaborated.

"I broke up with Janice today. Actually just a minute ago."

All my mouth could do was form a small "o."

On cue Janice came stomping down the hallway, high heels and all.

"You," she screamed, pointing a finger at me. "You f*cking waste of space. You deserve to die. You told something to Luke didn't you. This is your fault! When you get home tonight, your life will be over. If I don't kill you, Josh will. I will take a knife to your throat and everything will end for you. Don't think I didn't already know that you have self harmed. I've SEEN the razor and the knives in your bathroom! But guess what you deserve it you deserve every little thing that-"

I had had enough. I brought my fist to Janice's face, marking her cheek with a red blotch. This angered her more as Janice pulled out a chunk of my hair. By now there was a crowd surrounding us. I looked for Luke and found him being held back by Josh.

His light eyes turned dark and his inner hulk seemed to be coming out. He could have easily thrown Josh to the ground at this point, but there were three other guys contributing to project "hold Luke down."

I turned back to Janice, slapping her face, hard. Janice then curled her fist up into a ball and socked me in the stomach. I was knocked to the ground and all I could hear was cheering. Then in the distance, I heard a whistle and all the students scattered.

Even Janice left. There was no evidence now of what happened, but then I remembered the cameras in the school. All had been broken, but one. I only hoped that this one had captured it all.

I saw the teacher helping me. I had never seen her before. She looked concerned due to creases forming on her aged face.

"I'll get you to the nurse, sweetheart," she said heartily.
