Chapter 15

*Reader's POV*

I followed behind Lyon who carried an unconscious Sherry in his arms and we reached the others. I flew alongside the Airship Christina, as Ren, Eve, Hibiki, Sherry, and Lyon kept the ship in the air. However when I noticed the ship falling towards the ground I summoned an Ice Cocoon, summoning even more power as I made the rune encircle the entire ship, and smaller individual cocoons around everyone inside it. The spell began to activate, as they stared at me in wonder as I summoned even more magic and shifted into an Ice Dragon.

As the ship continued to plummet to the ground I dived underneath the ship to prevent its crash landing a little longer until the cocoon was fully completed. Immediately I slammed into the ground first and the ship with its occupants sailed over my head and towards the ground rolling towards another cliff edge. I immediately returned to my normal form and grabbed the cord that connected the cocoon's to me and pulled it as the ship halted mid-roll and moved away from the edge. When the ship was a safe distance away from the cliffs edge I deactivated the spell and rushed towards the ship when I saw everyone disembarking safe and unharmed.

As soon as I arrived I asked Hibiki "So the crystals inside Nirvana's legs need to be destroyed?" When he nodded I remained silent for a few moments before meeting everyone's gaze with a determined look and said "I know a spell that might be able to help with that, but I need everyone to remain where they are. No one is to interfere or the spell won't work properly." I turned around to face Nirvana reaching for my gloves with the intention of removing them when Hibiki said "I thought you told us everything you knew." As I stuffed the gloves into my jacket pocket I looked over my shoulder and said "You asked about the spells I used, not the spells I knew."

I looked away as I began to walk forward while removing my jacket; it fell to the ground behind me as I summoned my magic. When I felt my own magic surround my body I halted and looked up at the sky and closed my eyes. The magic that surrounded my body was a type of magic I hadn't used in so long. I took a deep breath as the familiar power flowed through me; I brought my head down my eyes still closed as I widened my stance. The wind that whipped around me was ice cold as I located everyone's individual position. I summoned an Ice Cocoon to every heat source I discovered, to protect them all from the spell I was about to use.

As my body moved fluidly into each required position I felt my body tingle as my tattoos began to glow with an eerie artificial glow. When I opened my eyes I watched as I froze Nirvana in place. I could see my breath and hear the frantic beating of my heart as I continued to draw from my power. The more I continued the more the surrounding area began to wilt and die, it continued until each leg was fully covered by ice with pulsing black veins. When the magic seals made finally made their appearance I fell to my knees as I pressed my left hand over my heart, while my right palm remained upturned towards the sky.

As I squeezed my hand I heard the sound of ice cracking, and when I brought my fist down on the ground I watched as every leg shattered and Nirvana fell to the ground defeated. I placed my palms on the ground as my cheeks stung with the hot tears I never realized fell down my face. I pressed my left wrist against my cheek as it began to rain reviving the plants that had wilted. However I soon noticed the small hand that was extended and when I looked up I noticed Wendy standing there with an encouraging smile. Carefully I slipped my prosthetic hand into hers and she helped me stand.

Her hand remained around mine as I lifted my face to the sky. Tears mixed with the rain, as the rain washed over me, soaking me, calming me. Slowly I released her hand and made my way towards the woods.

*Lyon's POV*

I watched in awe as she summoned a cocoon around the entire airship and around us as we fell to the ground. Before the cocoon fully enclosed around us I saw her shifting into a dragon and flying underneath us, I felt the ship jolt and immediately realized that she had shifted to hold up the ship to delay our crash landing. When we were released I watched in concern and surprise as she began to cast Iced Shell. She enclosed us each in a cocoon, and even through the ice I could feel her Magic Power rising. Through the ice I noticed her tattoos glowing as the wind picked up, saw her breath as she summoned the spell.

Then I saw her make the same position Deliora had done before he crumbled into pieces, and when her fist hit the ground I watched Nirvana shatter. The first thing I noticed when the cocoons were deactivated was that the area around us had died, only to be revived by the rain. Next I saw her on her hands and knees, her body shaking as she sobbed. The Flavorn I had personally delivered was snuggly wrapped around her right arm and it glittered in whatever light was left. Wendy was the first to move towards the weeping figure, and I knew the exact moment that everyone saw the ice prosthetic she possessed.

She lifted her face to the sky and then she walked away. All of us looked at one another as if someone was silently asking someone to go after her. I looked at the jacket she had removed before the ritual and picked it up as I gave the others a nod and silently followed after her.
