Chapter 5

Karen's POV

Daniel was the first to break the silence.
"Karen! Im glad youre back. You grew!" He said as he walked over to me and gave me a hug.
"I told you she grew. Iwas the first one to say and notice it." Corbyn muttered proudly as he elbowed Jacky.
"Yes babe. You were the first one to notice." Jacky replied sarcastically.
Jack came up next.
"Wow. Karen You look amazing. Its been a year since I last saw you and you totally grew." He hugged me.
"Your noodles grew"i teased, ruffling his hair. He playfully narrowed his eyes but then he laughed, fixing his hair..
"Wait you saw her last year? When was this? Where was I?" Daniel asked.
"Yea remember the radio station interview in Chicago and me and Zach disappeared after. Well we went to look for her."
"Oh thats where you disappeared." Corbyn stated. Jonah was just staring at me as if I wasnt real.
"Yup we spent the whole d-"
Jonah stood up unexpectedly and shook my hand which caught me off guard.
"Welcome back" he stated dryly before sitting back down. An awkward tension surrounded us.
"Well okay.. anyways Yea Karen is back for good now. She's going to move in back here now which is great" Jacky said, interrupting the silence.
"Yea anyways we want you all to have a seat because we have some exciting news to share with y'all" Corbyn said. Zach pulled me to the sofa and I sat between him and Jack. I could feel Jonah's eyes on me but I didnt want to look up and meet his.
"Wait we forgot the pizza and the soda!" Zach said.
"I'll get it" I said quickly before jumping out of my seat and rushing to the kitchen. I needed  an excuse to go somewhere else so I could breathe.
"What is going on with you? Why are you nervous? You didnt do anything wrong" I asked myself out loud.
"What is going with you?" I heard Jonah ask. I froze. My heart was beating fast. But why?
I turned around. He was standing there looking as good as ever.
"Huh?" I asked, dumbly. I could feel my cheeks turning pink. Ugh Karen what is wrong you. I was acting stupid. I didnt know what to say.
"Oh nothing. I just came to help you carry with the pizza." He said, taking a step closer. I felt like I couldn't move. I was frozen in the spot, just waiting for him to get closer. He took another and then another soon he was a few inches away from me.
"Why do you look so scared?" He whispered. His voice cracking.
I gulped. He chuckled and smirked. Whoa. For one moment, he looked like he was actually hurt that i looked scared and the next moment he is laughing.
"It seemed like it was yesterday that ....you left me and now youre back." He stated,drily. He took another step and now our noses where almost touching. We looked into  each other's eyes. His eyes softened for a moment as he looked deep into my eyes. I loomed at his pale pink lips. They looked so kissable. I looked back up now he was looking down at my lips. But then he shook his head.  He grabbed the pizza boxes and left me alone, confused.
What just happened?
