Chapter 13

Jonah's POV

*Flashback*
1 Year Before

"Where are you guys going?" Daniel asked Zach and Jack as we were leaving the radio station, where we had just wrapped up an interview. They seemed to be in a hurry.
Zach looked at Jack nervously.
"We're going to find um.. Pokemons?" Jack answered as they climbed into a car.
"Ooo Can I come? Can I come??" Corbyn asked, jumping up and down.
"No" they both replied quickly,before closing the door. Corbyn pouted and  We stood there, awkwardly.
"Im going to go back to the hotel" I stated,before requesting an Uber.
I knew they were going to visit Karen, it was pretty obvious. When we were at the radio station, Zach was sitting next to me and his phone was laid on the table. When he wasn't looking, his phone vibrated. It was Karen. She messaged Zach to text her when he was outside her dorm and that she was excited to see him.
The drive to the Uni was short. I told the Uber to drop me off across the street,where they couldnt see me. From a far I could see Jack hugging her. My heart ached. No Jonah stop. Who am I kidding?  I wish i was the one hugging her. They walked inside and I looked around,not knowing what to do now. I decided to buy Starbucks, which was across the street from the campus. I sat near the window as soon as I got my coffee. Time passed by and I decided it was time to give up. I didn't know what i was waiting for or what I was expecting to get out of this. I stood up and threw my trash away. I walked out and saw a boy with curly hair get into a Car.  It was Jack. Karen was standing there waving goodbye. She looked the same as she did when she left. She began walking away from campus and out of boredom and curiousity i decided to follow her. I had nothing better to do anyways. She walked for a couple of blocks and stopped in front of a pizzeria. I looked around. It was dark out and she was outside by herself. After 10 minutes, shw finally came out with a pizza box, which I assumed had pizza. She walked back to the school campus. I followed her. I know she had hurt me but I still wanted to know she was safe. I noticed a young boy ,maybe 18 or 19, come out of an alley and begin following her. She turned around and noticed. She began walking quicker but the boy quickened his pace. He finally caught up to her and out her arms around her neck.
I ran across the street and slowly approached them. The guy didnt seem to notice as he put a towel over her nose. As soon as the towel hit her, she collapsed. 
I curled my fists and grabbed him by the back of his shirt.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Hey! Let me go!" The young boy said.
"Why would you that? " I asked.
"Its none of your business"
I pushed him against a wall and twisted his arm.
"Are you sure its none of my business"
"Yes"
"Oh you think youre funny huh." I said as I twisted his arm some more.
"Ow ow ow im sorry. I just had to do my job alright. I have a family to maintain"
"Your job is drugging people?"
"No its to watch her sometimes but today the boss wanted me to drug her for some reason"
"Boss? Who's your boss?"
"Um.. i dont know"
"Do you really want to get your arms broken?"
"His name is Mark. Mark Anderson."
"Mark?"
"Yes"
"What were you gonna do after drugging her? Nothing. I swear. I was suppose to do stuff to her but I refused to because sometimes he assigns me things that Im not uncomfortable with"
I let him go.
"What jail is he staying in.?"
"Wait you know Mark? Oh please dont t-"
"What jail is he staying in?"
"Holton Conservation Camp #16 in Sylmar, California"
"Here" I said, opening my wallet and handing him a $100 bill.
"Woah w-what?"
"Get yourself a real job and be a good kid"
"Thanks um.. do you need help carrying her?"
" I do need help in one more thing"
"Ill do anything just dont call the cops"
"Go get her another box of pizza. This one is ruined Im going to take her to her dorm and make it seem as if she fell asleep before eating"
I gave him 20 bucks and picked Karen up. He hurried off toward the direction of the pizzeria.
I walked past the sleeping security and into her dorm room. I layed on her bed and took her shoes off.

After ten minutes of staring at her, I looked outside and saw the boy, waiting patiently. I rushed downstairs and thanked him for the food. He thanked me for the money and walked back home. I walked back upstairs and put the food on the night stand beside her bed. I sighed. She was probably going to wake up tomorrow and not remember a thing. Why did this had to happen? I walked over to the other side where she was facing.
"Im sorry I let that happened." I whispered before kissing her forehead and walking out of the room, making sure to lock the room behind me.

A few weeks later-

"Well hello there, what was it? Joseph? Oh wait no its Jonah"
"Cut the bullshit Mark. Why did you send someone to drug Karen?"
" Oh you came here for that?"
"Why else would i be here?"
"I dont know maybe because you want to help me get out of here?"
"Why would I want to do that?"
"Because you like Karen and you want to protect her"
"Im pretty sure she's protected when you're behind bars"
"Are you sure about that?"
I didnt reply.
"I have a deal for you. You help me get out of this horrible place and ill leave Karen alone. Its pretty simple. Ill go away and Ill let you live happily ever after."
I stared at him. He was serious. After a few moments of us staring each other down, he cleared his throat.
"So do we have ourselves a deal?"
I looked down at the bracelet she had given me.
Im doing this for you Karen
"Deal"

So as many of you, may or may not have noticed I changed the story title because it makes more sense then the original  title because Why Dont We Just Love is specifically for Book 1 . I dont know how to explain it without spoiling the story so I hope you enjoy.
