Chapter 18

Karen's POV

"Karen?" I heard Jonah whisper. I pretended that his voice woke me up.
"Jonah? What are you doing here?" I said, rubbing my eyes, sitting up.
"Im sorry I didnt know you were back or that you were sleeping I just wanted to make sure you were okay"
"Oh yea im fine" I replied, turning on my lamp light.
"May I come in?"
"Yea"
He walked over and sat at the edge of my bed.
"So what brings you here?" I asked.
He stayed quiet.
"I want to talk to you. You know since we havent had a proper conversation in four years" he stated, with a dry laugh.
"What do you wanna talk About?" I gulped.
"Everything"
"Oh okay"
I didnt know what to say.
"Can i lay next to you?"
"Uh..yes?"
He took off his vans and layed on my bed. I scooted over so there could be an appropriate amount of distance. He sighed and licked his lips.
"I need to tell you the truth. You're probably going to hate me at the end but I just wanted to know I never stopped loving you."
My heart stopped.  He never stopped loving me?
"It all started when you left me. I was broken. I was deep in depression. It was just horrible. I would lock myself up in my room and not eat properly for weeks. I pushed everyone away. I would just stay in my room and write music. One day, I decided I needed to stop so I went out and got drunk. I hooked up with a girl and decided it was time to forget about you. I continuously did that every day but i stopped when I saw you for the first time in four years. As soon as I saw you, my feelings hit me and old memories came back.."
He took a deep breath and then proceeded to continue.
"When you met up with Zach and Jack in Chicago, i decided to follow them. Because even though i knew it would hurt me I knew i needed to see you. I watched as you came out of your dorm building and greeted them,excitedly. I was wishing that that wouldve been me. Anyways fast forward to when they leave, You were walking to the pizzeria and I decided to follow you because it was dark out and I wanted to make sure you got home safely. As you were walking back home,  a guy followed you from behind and basically drugged you. I got mad at him and pushed him against the wall. I yelled at him and I asked who sent him.."
"Who was it?" I interrupted him.
"It was Mark" he replied.
"Is that the end of it?"
He shook his head.
"Karen i did it. I hate to say this but I was the one who bailed Mark out"
I probably didnt hear that correctly.
"What?"
"I bailed Mark out of jail" he repeated.
"Is this some type of joke? Because this is really not funny"
"No this is not a joke im just trying to be honest with you"
"Why would you do that?"
"Because I was trying to protect you" he said,raising his voice. We both stood up.
"Protect me from what Jonah?" I shouted at him.
"Im trying to protect you from him because he's trying to make you fall in love with him! Thats why he's trying to act all innocent and nice"
"Are you hearing yourself Jonah? Mark is NOT trying to make me fall in love with him! You're just making yourself sound crazy!"
"But its true! Karen! Cant you see he has always been madly in love with you!"
"If he was madly in love with me He wouldnt have hurted me Jonah!"
"B-"
"Leave"
"What?"
"Leave please"
"Bu-"
"Jonah Leave. I dont want to see you. I dont want to see anyone I just want to be alone"
He hesitated but then nodded. He walked slowly over to the door.
"I know you probably think Im the most dumbest guy in the planet but i did it for you because I love you."
He opened the doof and left.
I collapsed down to the floor and stared at myself in my mirror. Jonah's words ran through my mind. I closed my eyes. Why couldn't this be a dream?

Hello everyone. Im hungry and bored and sad so i decided to update. I hope tomorrow is better than today (probably not cause im not gonna see Jacky and ima be alone in class)
