Just a quick author's note regarding the contents of this chapter.  Most of this chapter revolves around Tsukimi's father.  I searched high and low, scouring the internet to gather some kind of information about her father.  It proved fruitless.  So I gave him a name and was intentionally vague about his career.  I hope this is perceived as a reasonable representation of who her father is and might be.  Other than that, I hope you enjoy the chapter.  :)

Kurashita Otojiro had grown used to waking up at the crack of dawn over the years for the sake of his job. But it was rare for his job to send him out of town on business in any capacity. So when he was asked to go to Tokyo to represent the company he jumped on it; if only to have a few spare moments to spend with his daughter which he hadn't seen in nearly a year. Granted in order to board the train on time he had to wake up even earlier than the 'crack of dawn' to be able to spend the whole day with his daughter, but he was unconcerned about that factor.

Tsukimi had always kept her life in Tokyo vague. She had briefly mentioned those people that played a major role in her life in Tokyo. Her former roommates of Amamizukan originally were the major topic of conversation. But then she started talking about her new best friend, Kuranosuke, who happened to be male.

Over the course of those conversations his role changed from best friend, to confidant, from confidant to co-entrepreneur. These transitions didn't keep Otojiro from being surprised to hear that his role once again had changed to the role of boyfriend. As any father would be he was quite apprehensive about the idea of her living in an apartment with him, which is what led him to ask about having a late breakfast dining in their apartment. To get a feel for his intentions with his daughter. Tsukimi excused herself to presumably call Kuranosuke and let him know how plans changed.

Otojiro considered how the way he had raised her growing up. Any child rearing is difficult when there is only one parent involved. He felt he did the best he could over the years. She had always been shier than others her age.

Her mother had in a lot of ways seemed more like her best friend than anything else mostly because she was most social with her over children her own age.

After her mother passed she had grown even more reclusive than before. She would try to keep her tears at bay when he was in her presence. On more than one occasion at night he had found her folded over the foot of her bed asleep. Tracks of tears drying on her cheeks. He figured she had tried to stay strong to keep him from being happy.

After a few years passed he tried to give her as much freedom, as he could, to be herself. She still would seclude herself from others and only really got excited about going to the aquarium exhibits when a new jellyfish exhibit would be announced. When she approached him about going to school in Tokyo there was a big portion of himself that wanted to say no and hold her close. Not only would that choice be pointless it would also make him a hypocrite. So while there was this inner storm of turmoil burning in his gut telling him to deny her. He had chose to instead smile at her openly and encourage her to go. All the while he reassured her that he would support her in the limited ways he could from home, hence why he still gave her a monthly allowance.
