Chapter 7

Awkward

"Should I wear this or this?" Kenzie asked me.

Hindi ko alam kung bakit nag – plaplano siya ng susuotin niya ngayong sinabi niya na wala naman siyang plano para i-celebrate ang heart's day.

"The floral dress." I answered.

Unlike her, I just wore one of my casual outfits. Just a white graphic tee tuck inside my maong skirt and a white sneakers.

Since it's a Sunday today, very laid back lang talaga ang schedule for today. Wala namang gagawin sa umaga, lalabas para kumain sa lunch, sa hapon ay may mini tournament na magaganap sa school gym at sa gabi naman ay may dinner reservation ulit.

After breakfast, nagkaroon lang kami ng meeting mga organizers pagkatapos ay nag-gather na sa bus para makapunta sa lunch restaurant.

Nag-bibilang ako ng attendance kaya naroon ako sa likod ng bus at nang nakabalik ay naabutan ko si ma'am Sevilla at si Caden.

"Dito ka sa tabi ko uupo. Para hindi ka magkulit." Seryosong sabi ni ma'am.

Caden was laughing when he spotted me. "Ma'am, dito nalang ako sa tabi ni Aly. Sa harapan parin naman." He said.

Kumunot ang noo ko at pumayag naman si ma'am.

"Morning." Masigla niyang bati nang naupo ako sa tabi niya.

"Morning. Palagi mong iniistress si ma'am ah." I said, trying to set aside my personal want to avoid him.

"No?" He said defensively. "What does she expect me to do in a boring bus ride?"

"You can entertain yourself without being so loud and without bothering others." I answered back.

Napakamot siya sa ulo at hindi nakasagot agad. "I am bothering others?"

I pursed my lips when I realized that it affected him. Parang ngayon lang niya narealize ang mali niya.

"Medyo lang," Bawi ko. "Kasi syempre ang ingay mo tapos baka yung ibang participants gusto palang matulog."

"Okay, I'm sorry, it's just so boring. Palaging tulog si Pete sa tabi ko and I don't wanna play with my phone coz it makes me dizzy."

"So ano naglalaro ka nalang ng papel?" Sabay abot ko sa kanya ng crumbled paper na nakaabot dito sakin kahapon.

He looked away like he's guilty about it and I chuckled to make the mood lighter. 

"Hindi ka naman pinipigilan sa gusto mong gawin, medyo tone it down lang para hindi nakaka-istorbo sa iba or just talk to me... if you are that bored."

Napalingon tuloy siya sakin at ako naman ang umiwas ng tingin. That was bold of me!

"Baka matutulog ka rin...?"

"Hindi ako nakakatulog sa kotse..."

"Okay. Sabi mo yan ha! You can't complain when I talk too much!"

Parang na-threaten naman ako sa sinabi niya, I can't complain? But then he doesn't even look like the type na madaldal, Pete's more like it kung tutuusin. 

As usual, our lunch took a long time and it was a loud one. Katulad kahapon, kinailangan din magkahiwa-hiwalay ng upo dahil ang table ay panglimahan lang.

I'm sitting with Kenzie, Luke and Joe and we all turned our heads when the crowd from team Malaysia were screaming because a guy gave a girl a bouquet of flowers.

"Love is really in the air." Joe trailed off with a smirk.

Napasulyap ako kay Luke na tinitingnan ako. I gave him a meaningful smile pero umiwas siya agad ng tingin, probably already knows that I'm gonna tease him about Kenzie.
