"Michael!" I screamed out and clutched his hand while Juliet walked through the door.
"Andy, here's your ice chips." She sympathetically smiled and I nodded while she sat the cup down on the nightstand. "Premature birth can often make the birthing process more painful for the mother because it's more forceful. I can give you an epidural now, but it may make things harder for you & for chandler to get out."
I grunted again but still shook my head no.
"Andy, baby, let her give you the shot." Michael pleaded but I shook my head again. "Please babe. Please." He cried out.
I knew this was hard for him. He was watching the woman he loved practically dying in pain.
"Okay.." I said unsure and Juliet nodded.
"I'll be right back then." She said and exited the room. I took this as my chance to talk to Michael.
"If I don't make it." I started and he looked up and cut me off.
"You will."
"If I don't Michael, you have to be there for him. He needs you. You can't leave him alone. And don't let him forget me." I smiled and lifted my hand to cup his cheek.
He didn't say anything for a good while and Juliet walked through the door.
"You ready?" She questioned.
I nodded and sat forward as her and the nurse unbuttoned my gown to put in the needle.
"You're gonna feel a pinch."
And I did. It wasn't massive though, but almost immediately after the shot was administered, the pain started to subside.
"Ahhh." I let out after finally able to breathe and Michael thanked the nurse and Juliet.
They left and I was finally able to lay back and relax.
"Feeling better baby?" Michael questioned hopefully and I smiled and nodded.
"A lot." I relaxed into my pillow and Michael kissed my cheek.
"Good. Wanna watch some tv?" He asked and I shook my head no.
"I just wanna sit here with you baby." I said and kissed his lips.
"Okay." He said and nuzzled his head in my neck.
"I love you so much." I said trying not to cry. If I died, he's all alone.
"I love you too." He smiled.
"You know, we need to plan a trip so i can actually spend some tims with your parents. Without any nevagivity going on lile last time. " It wasn't a lie. I wanted to spend time with his family, his parents, and they'd want to see chandler. I wanted to make the best impression on them. I'm about to marry their son. Well, If I can make it through this.
"You want to spend time with them?" He asked and I nodded. "My mom loves you. We should've went before now we've just been busy. But we'll go. I promise."
I was about to speak but I was cut off by a huge stab doing through my stomach.
"Oh my gosh!" I groaned out and felt a warm liquid trickle down my legs.
"Andy? What's going on?" He asked but I didn't answer. I just moved the blankets to see my legs.
Blood.
"Michael call Juliet!" I said as calmly as I could without screaming. I repeatedly pressed the nurse button on the remote.
"Okay Andy. Let's see what's going on." She walked over and put her gloves.
"Okay Andy. Were 9 and a half centimeters but Chandlers smothering. We need to start pushing and get him out. Let's try to keep your stress level down. Ready, on the count of three."
I nodded and breathed in and out.
"One."
There's the first one. Breathe Andy, be strong.
"Two." One more. Just breathe. The pain rested and branded on my lower abdomen.
"Shit." I breathed out and the nurse laughed a little at my foul mouth.
"Three. Push Andy." Juliet ordered and I pushed.
"Okay that's was a good one. Were gonna go again. Ready?" She asked and I nodded. "One."
"Two."
"Three." And I pushed again, this time with more strength.
"I can see the head. Come on Andy." And I pushed again.
"Michael! I can't do this!" I called out.
"It's okay baby. You're doing fine." He whispered in my ear. But this newfound anger sparked in me.
I grabbed him by the shirt and clenched my fist around it. "If, you, ever, do, this, to, me, again, you, better, run." I forced out with our faces inches from each other then released his shirt.
"One more time Andy. Come one sweety." Juliet encouraged and I gave her one more hard push and a huge relief was lifted of my stomach and a cries filled the room.
"Andy, do you want to hold chandler?" Juliet asked and I nodded.
Then I realized I had the most perfect moment in my life.
It wasn't the moment I met Michael, or the moment he proposed, not even the moment I found out I was pregnant.
It was when the doctor laid that beautiful baby boy in my arms.
Wrapped up in the tiny little blue blanket and his little eyes opening up.
He had my eyes. Crystal blue.
I didn't even know I was crying until Michael reached over and wiped my cheek. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.
"Hi chandler. I'm mommy. I'm your mom." I laughed silently. "You're so beautiful." I said and let his little hand wrap around my finger.
Then I looked over at Michael and saw him smiling down at our son.
"Do you want to hold him?" I asked and he looked up at me then nodded.
"I'm you're daddy chandler. I'm gonna teach you how to ride a bike and how to drive and how to pick up girls. But don't tell mommy." I laughed with him. "Oh I love you so much." He cried and kissed him.
Then we heard a knock and mine and Michael's gaze both fixed on the door.
"Mind if we come in? We've been waiting forever." My dad's voice broke through and he walked in followed by Miranda, Talon, Blake, and Lynnette.
Then for the rest of the night we watched as our family smiled and cooed down at my son.
My angel.
It was painful going through his, but my son was in my arms, healthy and strong. We both were.
No day is ever going to compare to me getting to hold my son for the first time.
Thank you lord for giving me a healthy son and letting everything that's happened in my life happen.
