I walked into another room with Joshua and Derek. Derek refused to let him talk to me alone in which I was glad. Just because Cora spent the better part of six years with him as her alpha doesn't mean that I trust him, even if he does seem like a good guy.
"Which father?" I asked. I now have Deucalion as my real father and Clayton as my father that I know and love, who also may be crazy.
"I wasn't aware you had two?" Joshua asked confused.
"I just found out recently that Clayton Sparks isn't my real father" I said.
"Oh my, I'm sorry to hear about that. But I wanted to talk to you about Clayton" He said.
"What about him?" Derek asked.
"I grew up with your father, I know what people have said about him. About him being a monster and that is simply not true." He said I was starting to get frustrated. Is my father the monster like so many people have claimed or is he the person I've always thought he was. Good.
"I don't know what to believe anymore. One person is telling me he's a monster. Then there is people like you and the memories I have of him that tell me otherwise." I said.
"I believe he was a good man, with a pure heart. Here's the thing that will change you forever. You're father. I think he's alive." He said. I swear I felt my heart stop. I was speechless thinking about the remote possibility that my father was still alive. But then I remembered. I watched him burn in my mothers arms. There is no way he's still alive.
"You're wrong, I watched him die, I saw it with my own two eyes" I said shuddering at that memory. I felt Derek intertwine his fingers with mine. I looked up at him and saw his concern plastered on his face. I never told him what I had witnessed in the fire. I always told him that he didn't want to know. Ignoring his expression I focused my attention back on Joshua.
"What makes you think he's alive" I asked.
"I've heard rumors of a new pack rising in Berlin. Their leader who was said to be dead but is in fact among the living. Clayton Sparks." Joshua said.
"Those are just rumors. Why would you get her hopes up from a rumor!" Derek said outraged. If i'm being honest I was upset also. Of course I want my father to be alive, and if he were then I would find him and demand answers. But there have been rumors of tons of werewolves being alive who are in fact dead, it started by one person who refuses to believe they are dead.
"I am simply stating what I heard through the grapevine" Joshua said.
"Well this isn't high school, next time you bring up her father being alive, give us proof" Derek demanded. I shot Joshua and apologetic look before Derek grabbed my hand and walked me away. Once we were a good distance away we stopped in the hall way. Derek let go of my hand and cupped my face with his hands, forcing me to look at him.
"Are you okay?" He whispered.
"What if he's telling the truth, what if he's still alive, I have to find him!" I said.
"Haley, you said you saw him die, if you try to find him, and you can't." Derek paused not being able to find the right words "I don't want you to go through that" Derek said.
"What if it's true, what if I do find him?" I asked tears threatening to spill.
"Do you think it's true?" He asked me wiping away the tear that escaped from my eye with his thumb.
"I know what I saw that night" I said finally opening up to him.
"What did you see?" He asked. Derek's been wanted to know the answer to this question ever since I woke up in the ambulance six years ago.
