When We Were Young : Part 3

Chapter 23

"What the hell!" I yelled backing up and pulling out my gun and pointed it towards the intruder. Standing in front of me was not Derek, in fact I didn't even think this thing was human. It was dressed in all black with bright yellow eyes. No face just a mask. As I held my gun up another one appeared behind me and grabbed the nozzle of the gun and threw it on the ground. I turned around ready to fight but was stopped when he placed his hand on my cheek and glowed his eyes.

He was looking at me but it felt like I was entirely exposed to him. It was like he was searching for something. Like he was looking into my soul. For a minute the other one to his right held up his sword and was ready ready to strike me, I closed my eyes and was ready to die but it stopped. I felt a searing pain behind my ear then they vanished. A chill ran over me and I was left shaking on the floor. What the hell just happened?

I didn't know how long I laid here but I was able to move again and I propped myself up against the wall. I heard the door open but I was still in shock to move.

"Haley!" I heard Derek yell and he knelled down in front of me and checked me for injuries. "What happened are you alright?"

"They were here, they wore black and they, they had on masks" I said looking around checking to see if they were still here. 

"Who? Haley who was here?" Derek asked. 

"I don't know but they did something" I said. 

"What did they do?" Derek asked still checking me.

"They just stared at me" I said. 

"You're freezing, come on" He said lifting me up bridal style and bringing me to the bed. He crawled in with me and brought the covers up over us. He held me close and I could feel the warmth returning to my body. 

"Did you see where they went?" He asked. 

"They just vanished in the air" I said. 

We laid there for hours. Just holding on to each other. 

"We should tell Scott" Derek said. 

"I don't want this blown out of proportion yet" I said.

"Haley they broke into the loft and attacked you, Scott needs to know before it happens to him or anyone else" Derek said. 

"Can we at least talk to someone first, figure out more about them, and I didn't get attacked they just stared at me, like they looked in my soul" I said. 

"They attacked you" Derek said. I knew there was no persuading him "We will talk to Deaton tomorrow"

"Okay. This sucks" I said. 

"Yeah" He said. 

"Tomorrow is Halloween too" I said. 

"And?" Derek asked. I lifted my head up and looked at him angrily. Does he forget that October 31st is my favorite holiday. I was the only non supernatural person in my family and to some what 'dress up' like them brought me joy. It let me fit in even if the costume I wore was fake.

"My favorite holiday Derek" I said as if he should already know.

"Halloween doesn't count as a holiday" Derek said. 

"Does too!" I said. 

"What is it celebrating? Monsters, we already have enough of that in Beacon Hills" Derek said. 

"Alright, but we still need to buy candy" I said. 

"I'm not passing out candy" Derek said. 

"It will be just in case Derek, come on, you will be a horrible person if a kid comes up to you and you have no candy" I said.
