Chapter 12

Moments later, they arrived at the castle in Canterlot, and they looked at the pony guards keeping a lookout for any signs of danger. Rarity backed away in fear as if she's saying that she doesn't want to do this. "Mom!" Rainbow Dash said in a whisper. "Do you have a better idea?!" Rarity shook her head no, but then, an idea came to her. They went down below, and Rarity pried the secret door on the wall open. Rainbow Dash smiled, and said "That'll do." Some pony guards walked pasted a well, and Rarity and Rainbow Dash quietly climbed out of it. They then went in the secret door in the castle, and they heard the sound of ponies fighting. In the throne room, Big Mac, Fancy Pants, Flash Sentry, and Dr. Whooves were still fighting with their clans by their side. Fancy Pants, Flash Sentry, and Dr. Whooves wanted Big Mac to choose which of the sons that his daughter will marry, but he refused, and Dr. Whooves told him that the alliance is over, and they declared war. Rainbow Dash saw the fighting going on, and she looked at her mother as she said "They're going to murder each other! You've got to stop them before it's too late!"

Rarity roared in shock as if she was saying "Are you crazy?! I can't do that! I'm a bear! Remember?!" "I know! I know!" Rainbow Dash said. "But how do we get you up the stairs, and up to the tapestry without them looking at you?!" Rarity shrugged, and Rainbow Dash groaned in frustration. Rarity gasped when another idea hit her, and pointed at her daughter as if she's saying that she needs to be the one to do it. Rainbow Dash looked at her in question. As the fighting went on, Rainbow Dash walked into the throne room. The fighting then suddenly stopped when they watched her walk by. She went up to her father as he said "What are you doing, Rainbow Dash?!" "It's alright, dad." Rainbow Dash said. She cleared her throat, and said "I..uh..I have... uh...well...you see, I...I have been in conference with the queen." "Is that so?" Dr. Hooves asked as he climbed over the table he was using as a wall. "Yes. It is." Rainbow Dash said. Flash Sentry climbed over his table as he said "Well, where is she then?" "She...uh-." Rainbow Dash tried to say, but Fancy Pants climbed over his table, and interrupted her as he said "How do we know that this isn't some trick?!" "I'd never!" Rainbow Dash said.

Fancy Pants. Flash Sentry, and Dr. Whooves advanced on Rainbow Dash as they started arguing with her. Finally, she had enough of them questioning her, so she took a deep breath, and said "SHUT IT!" Fancy Pants, Flash Sentry, and Dr. Whooves stopped talking as Big Mac chuckled a little. Rainbow Dash then cleared her throat as her mother quietly entered the room, and posed as a bear statue, and said "Well, I uh...Once, there was an ancient kingdom." "What is this?" Flash Sentry asked. As Rarity took small and quiet steps without everypony noticing her, Rainbow Dash said "That kingdom fell into war, and chaos, and ruin." "Oh, we all heard that tale!" Fancy Pants said. "Yes, but it's true!" Rainbow Dash said. "I know now how one's selfish act can turn the face of the kingdom." "Ah, it's just a legend." Dr. Hooves said. "Legends are lessons." Rainbow Dash said. "They ring with truth. Our kingdom is young. Our stories are not yet legend. But, in them, our bond was struck. Our clans were once enemies! But, when invaders threatened us from this scene, you joined together to defend our land. You fought for each other! You risked everything for each other." She looked at Flash Senrty, and said "Flash Sentry, Fancy Pants saved your life stopping an arrow as you ran to Dr. Whooves aid!"

"Yes." Flash Sentry said "I'll never forget it." "And Fancy Pants, you saved my dad when you charged in on an enemy, and held off the advance!" Rainbow Dash said. "And we all know how Dr. Whooves broke the enemy line." "With a mighty throw of a spear!" Fancy Pants said. "I was aiming for you, Fancy Pants." Dr. Whooves said as they shared a laugh. "The story of this kingdom is a powerful one!" Rainbow Dash said. "My dad rallied your forces, and you made him your king. It was an alliance forged in bravery and friendship, and it lives to this day. I've been selfish. I tore a great rift in our kingdom. There's no pony to blame but me. And I know now that I need to amend my mistake, and mend our bond. And so, there is the matter of my betrothal. I decided to do what's right, and-!" She looked at her mother as if she's saying to break the tradition. "And-And break tradition." Rainbow Dash said finishing her sentence. "My mother, the queen, feels...uh, in her heart, that I...that we be free to...write our own story. Follow our hearts, and find love in our own time." Rarity smiled as she felt moved by her daughter's speech.
