... { " He really intimidates me. " }
The parking lot seemed eerie. Hundreds of blank car spaces stared at me, and the black night made me cautious of my surroudnings. The still, quiet air nipped at my bare skin, and I deeply regretted not bringing a jacket. I checked my phone for what felt like the millienth time for a message, but the screen was clear.
Looks like mum forgot about me.
It wasn't her fault, though. She can't remember everything, she's too busy withnwork and all. But that thought didn't help the fact that I felt helpless and alone.
The rustling of gravel and the sound of footsteps made me jump and I forced myself to turn around to the sound. A tall, dark figure walked towards me and my heart immediately raced, beating vigourously against my ribcage and defeaning my ears. The figure walked underneath a street lamp and I caught a glimpse of those familiar dark brown eyes and smirking lips.
He stopped a metre in front of me and looked around for a moment, before his piercing gaze landed on me. "Need a ride?" Wyatt's harsh tone made me step away and I shook my head. "Well, it's either me or nobody, sweetheart." The nickname rolled off his tongue and gave me goose bumps.
Again, I shook my head. There was no way I was getting in a car with him. He took a step closer, making me swallow the hard lump in my throat. He moved even closer, and I wanted to run away right there, but my feet were frozen on the ground. His hot breath fanned down my neck as he spoke, "Do I intimidate you?"
He really intimidates me...
My lip quivered and an unsettling feeling grew in my stomach. After a few more long seconds passed, his lips twitched into a sly grin. "I'll take that as a yes." He stepped away from me, allowing me to breathe as I had unconsciously held my breath, and headed over to a car that sat behind me. I watched him open the door and get into the vehicle.
For a second I thought he was going to leave me here, but after he closed the door, the tinted window rolled down and his glowing face stared at me. "Get in the car or freeze to death. Your choice."
I didn't hesitate to run around the otherside of the car and get in. He was so demanding, and I knew that if I refused again he would leave me here by myself in the dark. The luxurious black leather seats comforted me as I slid into them. The windows displayed a blurred view, and I was set on watching it pass until I got home.
"Where do you live?" Wyatt asked all of a sudden.
I faced him, my eyes wide in realisation. How could I tell him where I lived? My throat went dry and my hands shook uncontrollably as I glared down at them. I struggled to pull out my phone, then typed in my address and showed it to him.
He let out a small grunt and I pulled my phone away, keeping my gaze fixed on my lap.
The drive was in awkward silence. Wyatt's hands were tightly wrapped around the steering wheel and his eyes were locked onto the road head. Suddenly, breaking the silence, he spoke. "Mr. Lucas is a real dick."
Memories of earlier came back, and disappointment and betrayal washed over me. I nodded slightly, my eyes narrowing at the ground. Why was he bringing this up? Why was he even talking to me? Maybe he said yes to the deal Mr. Lucas gave him, because he's actually trying to get me to talk. This thought made me shift in my seat in frustration.
Wyatt pulled the car into my driveway and in a split second I was out of the car and jogging towards my front door. I couldn't stand being in that car with him any more. I had to escape. I quickly entered my house, not looking back, and leaned against the closed door until I heard him speed off. I searched the dark room. Mum probably wasn't home yet.
"Tommy?" I called out, but recieved no answer. Before I called my brothers name again, my phoone buzzed.
'From mum,
I'm so sorry! I couldn't pick you up today, had another meeting. Tommy is at his friends house for a sleepover, dinner is in the fridge. Love you.'
I let out a long sigh, and threw my phone onto the couch.
