... { " Now I know that I was truly screwed. " }

There he was, sitting in the middle of the room surrounded by stuffed animals and building blocks. The amount of relief that filled me was almost unbearable and left me crouching down. My little brother was safe, he was here, I could see him.

"Sis?" I heard his sweet voice call me and I looked up at him, a wide genuinely happy smile forcing it's way onto my numb lips.

He grinned at me and dropped the dark brown teddy he had hugged before running towards me, arms wide and wrapping themselves around my neck. "Wanna play?" He asked me.

I nodded and he dragged me over to the pile of toys. His giggling wouldn't stop as he picked up a few toys and I smiled until my cheeks hurt. He was the only one I had besides mum. I don't know what I would do with myself if he was gone.

"Ivory, there you are." Sophia said, entering the room. "A boy is waiting for you at the front door."

My eyes widened in surprise. Wyatt was still here? I didn't expect him to actually wait for me.

I gave Sophia a nod and gently grabbed my brothers hand. "Lets go home." I whispered to him. He pouted but followed me towards the front door.

Wyatt really was waiting for Tommy and I. He stood there staring at me with a completely blank and colourless expression. I looked away sheepishly and walked out the door, feeling self conscious as his gaze burned the skin of my back. We walked over to my house, with Tommy clinging to my hand and Wyatt trailing behind me.

Once we entered my house, Tommy turned around to face Wyatt. His eyes lit up curiously as he asked, "Who are you?"

Wyatt's orbs flickered to me, showing clear amounts of puzzlement, and for some reason, amusement. "My name is Wyatt."

"Are you sis' friend?" Tommy continued with the questions and I felt my throat tighten. Why was he asking all these questions?

Wyatt's gaze didn't leave my face as he stared. "Yes, I'm her friend."

The way he said those four words made me shiver slightly. It seemed as though he wasn't answering my brothers question, but stating a fact. I guess now we were friends. At that moment I didn't know what to do. I just stood there, hypnotised by Wyatt's eyes. They weren't as sharp as they usually were, but soft and sincere.

Now I know that I was truly screwed.
