... { " This mysterious facade he had put up was about to unfold and open itself to me. " }

There's a nearby park on the way to school that my mum used to take me during her nights off work. This park was my escape from the world because nobody ever visited the large field that was littered with clover patches and plum trees. It was a secret place, just for mum and I.

But as it turned out, Wyatt had also known of this place. With his firm hand wrapped delicately around my small wrist, he lead me towards the park. "I used to ditch class and go here for some peace and quiet." Wyatt explained as we wandered through the trees.

"A-aren't we ditching right n-now?" I asked hesitantly. To be quite honest, I have never ditched a class before. My mum would kill me if she found out. This thought weighed heavily in my head and a small lump of panic had formed in the back of my throat.

"Of course we are. If I'm gonna tell you everything, I at least deserve some time to think and a private place to talk."

I nodded in understanding. I still couldn't believe he was actually going to tell me everything. This mysterious facade he had put up was about to unfold and open itself to me. The one thing I could think of during this moment was why? Why did he trust me enough to reveal himself? Why me?

"Let's sit here." Wyatt's stiff, rough voice brought me out of my daydream and my eyes focused down to the aged wooden bench.

"Okay-" I said whilst sucking in a sharp breath before sitting down.

Wyatt was still standing in front of me, staring down at the empty space next to me for a moment. He then closed his eyes tightly shut and shook his head. I was confused at his action before he began pacing back and forth in front of me.

This went on for a while. I started to wonder if he was really going to tell me everything. Or maybe he just needed some time to gather his thoughts. So I sat on the old bench, keeping my eyes on his swaying limbs, and I waited.

I waited, and wondered, and waited again. Then, finally, he stopped moving and slowly turned towards me. "I used to be in a gang."

After almost an hour of waiting, thinking, and pacing about, he decided to start off with that.
