The Mind Trap.

Birthday.

My abdominal area screeched in pain as I woke up, shifting uncomfortably in my bed. The warm sun rays coming through from the window, lighting the room softly.

Last night grandpa told me that Hunter is my new trainer(which I already know) and that he has some guys searching for Jake. I wish I could help but my grandfather said no and no means no. Ugh sometimes he so sickening.

I slept over by my grandparents and I'm probably going to be staying here until I'm eighteen so I'm happy. I turned on my left side and I hit something, I didn't bother to open my eyes to see what it was. It's probably a pillow. I stretched my right hand over it and wrapped my hand around it gently pulling it towards my body. I felt it rising and dropping until it shuffled and something wrapped around my waist.

My eyes flew open to see Hunter in my bed, she was sleeping still and her head was tucked into my chest. Her left leg was wrapped around my waist and my hand wrapped around hers. I concealed a loud scream by biting on my bottom lip harshly and watched as her left hand came up to my hair, fiddling with it.

"Am...Hun" I was cut off when she started to play with hair even more. Her eyes slowly opened I looked into her's falling into a trance. What the-

" Hun?" She asked raising an eyebrow and I came back to reality.

"I was cut off. What I was going to say is what are you doing in my bed?" I said, removing her from off of me before I got up to put on a jersey.

"I woke up midnight and I went for a glass of water in the kitchen, when I was coming back and I passed by your door I heard a slightly kind of silent 'not really' screaming coming from your room so I rushed in and heard your screaming Amanda and you were crying slightly so I came into bed to tell you that it was a nightmare and go back to sleep. Unluckily for me your hand was around me and let me just tell you it's not easy to move it. You look like a fourteen year old trapped in a seventeen years old boy's body. Sorry about that cuddling thing by the way. I used to do that when I was younger."

I took a couple of seconds to process the information she just told me, "Am it's ok. Thanks for trying to help me last night but please don't do it again."

She raised an eyebrow at me," Okay whatever you say. Happy birthday by the way." She said before getting out off bed and out off my room.

I'm too young for any of whatever in the world happen last night. I'm just a teen.

I pulled on my white T-shirt and head towards my bathroom to brush my teeth before going to get some breakfast in the kitchen.

"Morning." I heard Grandma say as I entered the kitchen.

"Morning." I replied taking a seat by the island next to Hunter.

"Happy birthday dear." Grandma said, handing me a plate of pancakes before kissing me on the forehead.

"Abuela stop." I complained like a five year old. She laughed and walked out off the kitchen when grandpa walked in.

"Happy birthday hijo." He said patting me on the back.

"Thanks. What going on with Jak-" I was cut short. How rude.

"I have good news and bad news. Which one you want to hear first?" He asked.

"Bad I guess."

" I didn't get you anything for your birthday." And Hunter burst out laughing while I rolled my eyes.

" Okay, great. Now good news."

" I didn't get you anything." He said scratching the back of his head bending it slightly.

"Kaleb." Grandpa continued. Hunter laughter died down into a silent giggle and kept on eating her pancakes. She's rude sometimes.

" Hijo something's wrong." Grandpa said and I watched him, confusion blaring from my face.

"What's wrong?"

" We tried to find Jake but the guy who took him......Ryder, he took Jake somewhere else and I think Ryder's son, David is going your school." I didn't say anything.

" We know he's carrying Jake somewhere but we don't know where... Because you made his son end up in the hospital" The anger was starting to bubble in my stomach. No, correction. It was overflowing.

"So you're telling me that he was kidnapped by David's dad because I beat the crap out off his son because his son bullied my best friend. This is complete and utter sh-" What is it with this family and cutting me off.

"He's one of our enemies. His a drug dealer and he's definitely a murderer. Hijo I'm trying my best to find your friend." Grandpa said his gaze falling to the counter as he sighs, pressing the palm of his hands against it.

" Ryder's family and our family have a bad history. His dad killed your great-grandfather, my father." I didn't get to reply.

"I'm trying my best son. I'm trying everything in my power to get him back but for now you have to keep low and Hunter is going to train you for a couple of weeks until someone else has to train you."

I take a moment to let everything sink in," So you're telling me that, that Jack donkey's father kidnapped my best friend because I beat the crap out of him ."

" Yes." The anger inside me is overwhelming at this point. Anything will piss me off right now.

"Kaleb close your mouth I don't think we want you catching flies. Speaking of flies there's one, it's attracted now close your mouth." Hunter said teasingly pushing my chin up.

I rolled my eyes," Oh shut up well you?" I said in a harsh and angered tone.

She giggled and stuffed her face with pancakes and so did I.

"Whoa tiger the meat isn't going anywhere chill." She said laughing at me.

" Oh but I know where the meat sitting next to me is going so I advice you to start running if you don't want to personally get kicked out... literally." I threatened but it came out too weak and she started to laugh stuffing her face once more.

I started to laugh at her actions before stuffing my face with a huge piece of pancake drizzled in syrup.

"God I was wrong you don't eat like a tiger at all. Oh no, no, no. You eat like a starving pig!" Hunter exclaimed and I rolled my eyes once more. Why do I roll my eyes so much?

" Why thank you piggy but you're no better. Now eat up." She rolled her eyes then poke me in the ribs and I burst out in laughter taking another bite of pancake.

Even though I'm feeling like if I have a major anger issue problem, Hunter managed to enlighten the mood a little. If she didn't I might have pounce on the wall creating several holes in the poor thing.

David is playing around too much with me and I'll have the cause to permanently paralyse him and his dad. No body messes with my friends and I.
