The Mind Trap.

Pier.

I finish up my food leaving a little for Hunter because she always asks and there's no point not leaving for her when she'll nag you until you get her more food. She finished up her's and took mine. I started laughing and she gave me a look telling me to stop. It's like we could read each other's minds.

"Oh you're welcome piggy." I said rolling my eyes at her pig-ish behave. She finished of the rest of the food and wiped her mouth with her napkin.

"Oh thank you caveman."

"Anytime." I gave her a tight fake smile and took out my phone. After about a minute Darren came to our table.

Darren was of African decent and had grey eyes. Lana immediately rolled her eyes and got up to walk away.

"What's her problem." Darren asked watching her strode out the cafeteria.

"You annoy the crap out of the poor girl, what do you expect?" Toby said getting up and walking towards her to pull her back to the table. He struggled at first but she gave in after and came back to the table while Darren took a seat next to me.

"What took you so long?" I asked knowing the answer.

" Jessica. The girl flew on me like a bird. She was aggressive." He said scowling his face. "It took me ten minutes to get her off me then Amy came and did the same thing, she took another ten." He rolled his eyes.

Both Jessica and Amy are cheerleaders who literally threw themselves at any boy in the school. They mostly throw themselves at Darren because labels apparently exist in our school and girls like golden boys, as that is Darren label. I'm proud to be called a nerd any day if it gets those cheerleaders out of my way and it does.

"They're sluts." Hunter whispered in my ear.

"No don't say that, at least not here. We only say that at home okay?" I said laughing and she started laughing with me.

I heard a scoff from Lana when she looked up and saw Darren looking at her. He only does that to piss her off. I want be surprised if she pounce on him like a lion.

The bell rang and we left the cafeteria to head to our classes to finish off the end of our school day. It was B.O.R.I.N.G. Boring. I slept away in chemistry for the last two periods and woke up to Hunter laughing at me. Apparently she draw a pony on my forehead while I was sleeping but I had to admit it looked pretty good when she showed me the pictures she took.

The worst part is when she coloured it in pink. I didn't notice until I came home. She embarrasses me a lot but now payback is coming her way.

"Hunter!" I yelled trying to get her attention. She was currently getting ready to get dinner and I had to pay since she cooks all the time.

"Yeah." She yelled back from the bathroom.

"Can you hurry? I'm starving. I think I'll died if I don't get food within the next twenty minutes for the most-" I was cut off when she came out wearing jeans and a forest green jersey paired up with her black vans.

"Why are you so dolled up?" I asked tilting my head a little. She looked great but why is she dressed like that? We're only going to a restaurant for take out. We wasn't dining and even if we was she would wear her usual comfort clothes.

" I want to go to-" I cut her off.

"Nope." I crossed my hands over my chest.

"You didn't even let me finish." She whined.

"Okay where do you want to go?" I asked sighing

"Let's have a Kaleb and Hunter night." Her voiced rising in excitement.

"Don't we have that almost every night?" I asked bluntly and her facial expression dropped.

"No I mean like let's get out just the two of us." She said walking towards me. She pouted giving me her best puppy face.

"God why do you have to be so damn adorable sometimes?" I asked to no one in particular, giving up. A smile stretched across my face and she smiled back at me.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked walking outside.

"Let's go see the fireworks at the pier tonight." Her eyes light up and we exited our rooms heading towards my car.

"Okay but food first." I demanded and she skipped happily towards the car. I laughed at my best friends' behaviour and she smiled at me.

"Fine by me. I'm starving. You took so long!" She sighed and I watched her unbelievably.

"You're joking right? Because last I checked you spend at least an hour getting ready and thirty of does minutes was you getting up from your bed to get to the bathroom." I blinked at her rapidly before entering the car.

" And ten minutes after you couldn't decide to just carry me to the pier." I rolled my eyes at her comment and I started the car leaving for the restaurant.
