Ethan's POV
Two Days Later... (Day 7)Ethan's ankle was hopefully going to be given the all clear soon. He gave the crutches back gladly to the lady waiting for kids that are sick or injured. Mark held his hand the little time that they were waiting. When he had to go into the nurse room he got the clear from Katie -as there were no signs of pain- and she officially unraveled the bandage.
"Don't get in any more trouble." She warned.
"I won't." Ethan laughed.
He was excused and left the room and then the block hand in hand with Mark. They went to Katie as soon as it was free time so they had plenty of time alone.
"Hey wanna go see if the instructors have anything for us to do? I've heard of kids who did that and had a lot of fun." Ethan asked bouncing along, happy to not be swinging anymore.
"Sure." Said Mark.
They both decided on Lucy and went to the cafeteria. Mark hadn't noticed but there was a gap leading into a more private area that lead into the councillor lounge. There were kids from another cabin in there laughing with the instructors that were in there. One noticed them and waved, he had brown hair and brown eyes. Another noticed and opened the door. He had black hair and glasses.
"Hi and welcome to Chillies." He joked.
The whole room burst into laughter Mark joining in.
"Come in, come in." Said the black haired boy.
Ethan stepped in, there was a total of nine people inside including Mark and himself.
"So what's your names?" The brown haired boy asked.
"My name's Mark." Said Mark.
"I'm Ethan." He said nervously.
The group nodded.
"I'm Nate and this is Mat." Said the black haired boy pointing to his brown haired friend.
Another caught Ethan's attention.
"I'm Thomas, Thomas Sanders." Another kid said, he was holding a ukulele.
Everyone turned to a girl with dark brown long hair that was covering part of one eye.
"Jess." She said smiling and giving Ethan and Mark a wave. She was next to another boy.
"I'm Jason." He said.
"I'm Miles!" Some boy shouted with short brown curly hair. " And I'm gay!" He yelled.
Everyone rolled their eyes except Mark and Ethan who shrugged and smiled.
"I'm the supervisor, you know safety reasons. My name's Amanda." Said the older female.
"We were just going to hear Thomas sing his original song called The Things we Used to Share." Said Nate.
"Come sit down." Said Jess.
Ethan sat down on a cushion next to Mat and Mark followed suit. They sat and waited as Thomas fiddled with his ukulele nervously before taking a deep breath and starting to sing.
"You can have the toaster
And the PC
Or even my Timothy Green DVD
I'll let you have the couch
And the TV
Hang on to the that jacket you bought for me.
I don't really care
You can keep the things we used to share
But what did you do with my heart?
What did you to with my heart?"
Ethan rested his head on Mark's shoulder as he listened. As Thomas sang Ethan saw that Thomas was on the verge of tears. He watched as Thomas strummed the strings. He felt a drop of water land on his hair and soak into his head. Mark was crying. Ethan didn't realise he himself was crying until Thomas finished.
"Beautiful." Miles said.
"Amazing." Mark added.
Ethan nodded lifting his head from Mark's shoulder. He looked around, everyone looked as though they shed tears. Nate was hiding it by wiping his eyes. Mat was openly letting it happen. Jess had her knees tucked to her chest with Jason's arms around her. Amanda wiped her eyes and nodded.
"Does anyone else want to show something?" She asked.
"I will." Said Ethan. "Thomas can I borrow your ukulele?" He asked. "I promise I won't do anything bad." He added.
Thomas handed his ukulele to Ethan and Ethan looked around to the group. Mark was giving his a smiling look. Ethan remembered how he would go to the music room and learn to play ukulele by himself. He was allowed to by his kind music teacher.
"I'm gonna sing a little bit of Death of a Bachelor." He said taking a breath.
"Do I look lonely?
I see the shadows on my face
People have told me
I don't look the same...
Maybe I lost ways
Maybe I'm playing her gameFrom the best of the best
Put your heart on my chest
So you can see it tooI'm walking the long road
Watching the sky fall
The lace in your dress
Tingles my neck
How do I live
The death of a bachelor, oh, oh, oh
Letting the water fall
The death of a bachelor, oh, oh, oh
Seems so fitting for
A happily ever after, yeah
How could I ask for more?
Lifetime of laughter
At the expense
Of a death of a bachelor."
Ethan finished and everyone applauded.
The group then chatted about themselves and what they like so Ethan and Mark could know them better. They shared their things that they wanted to share. Everyone had a good time. Last year when Ethan tried to come in here there were too many people but most grew out of summer camp and left. He had no one to talk to, not like this year. He even was told that Mat, Nate, Miles and Thomas went to his school.
I'll have people when I get home. He smiled.
"Okay, that's enough for today, lunch is in five minutes so get seated." Said Amanda.
Everyone nodded and left the room laughing at the introduction "Hi and welcome to Chillies joke."
"Come to our cabin later. Jess hangs out with us and she's with Amy and Kathryn." They got seated at their seperate tables and waited for everyone to pile in. They had burgers for lunch and boy were they good.
"Who's ready for surfing?" Asked Brian to the two cabin groups that would be in fact surfing.
Ethan looked over to Mark he was fiddling with his hair nervously. Dan and Phil high fived each other and Joey and Daniel look excited. Robert grinned at the fact of the beach. They were told to meet at the front gate to get in the buses that would would take them. Ethan jumped from his seat as soon as they were excused and Mark following him along with the others. They waited at the front gate and piled into the buses having to double up because of space issues. Mark and Ethan gladly shared a seat with Dan and Phil at the back. Nate and Mat from earlier and then Miles. Ethan noticed Jess, Jason and Thomas on another seat. There were a bunch more kids there that Ethan didn't know. Joey, Daniel, Tyler and Robert were placed in the other small bus.
