I can't believe I'm finally in London. I set my bags down on the docks and smiled as Newt stood behind me.
"Welcome to London, Alina," He said.
Yes, my three days on the boat would have been terrible if I haven't met Newt. For some reason I tripped over something and bumped into him. He helped me pick up my papers for my sketchbook and...I don't know we started talking. I usually felt uncomfortable showing people what I drew, but with Newt it was different. I got comfortable with him easily. He was mostly interested in these pictures I drew of a platypus-like creature, a rhino-like thing, and this little person with floor-length hair. I told him they just came to me in a dream one night, same thing that happened to my friend, Jacob Kowalski.
Newt told me that he was a writer. I asked him what the book was about, but he would stay clear of that topic. He told me about his brother, who he doesn't really talk to. Umm, he loves animals. Now that I think about it, he told me that it was part of what his book is about.
I smiled at him. "Thanks. I, um, I think this is where we part ways." There was this little pang in my chest at the thought of that, but I shook it away. "It was nice meeting you, Newt."
"As to you, Alina." I gave him one last smile before picking up my suitcase. I was about to walk away until he called me back. "Actually, I was thinking...Maybe I could walk you to your place." I gave him a confused look. His cheeks started to turn red as he reached the back of his neck. "I mean, you're new here and I know my way around. I could show you where you'll be staying," He finished with a nervous smile.
His smile is contagious, I swear. I smiled back. "Sure."

I told Newt the name of the hotel I would be staying at. It's such a coincidence that Newt lives a block away. Who would have thought? So, he helped me with my belongings and we headed over to his place. I don't know what it is about Newt, but I find myself trusting him easily. I just met the guy and I already consider him as a friend. Ooh, speaking of, I need to call Jacob and tell him I made it.
"Hey, Newt," I called out as he placed his suitcase on his bed. "Do you have a phone I could borrow?" It's 7 in the evening here, so it should be 2'o clock over there.
He nodded. "Just down the hall to your right," He responded.
I smiled in thanks before I left the room. I dialed Jacob's number and waited for him to pick up.
"Hello," He greeted.
I smiled. "How's my favorite baker doing?"
I heard him chuckle. "Great. Business is booming. I already got a few people wanting to work for me. They love my pastries."
"As they should." If Jacob's pastries were a person, I'd marry it. They're just so good. I've been craving his blueberry danish the past two days.
"How's London?"
I sighed happily as I ran my hand over my hair. "London is...crazy beautiful. The people here are friendly. You should see their bridge. Oh, oh, and Newt and I were planning to go to the London Eye -"
"Newt?"
"This guy I met. Anyway, he said he would take me to see it. It's suppose to give you the perfect view of London. He said it could be part of my memory sketches and -"
Jacob cut me off again. "You showed him your sketches?" He asked in surprise. "Alina, it took you a year to show me your sketches and you just met this guy." He chuckled. "Maybe you should bring him over for dinner and I could introduce you to Queenie."
A teasing smirk came to my face. "Queenie? Jacob, you dog you."
He chuckled. "I think you'll like her, Alina."
"Answer me this, is she making you happy?"
"The happiest." Awe.
"Then I already like her." Jacob deserves to be happy. I really want to meet this Queenie person. Jacob and Queenie. Has a nice ring to it. I felt something tug at my sleeve and I looked down to find nothing there. Weird. I sighed as I held the phone up. "I'll let you go. I still have some unpacking to do and you still have your business to run. I'll see you in a month. Have fun."
"I will."
A smirk came to my face. "But not too much fun," I joked. "You know? Hint. Hint. Wink. Wink."
I didn't need to be near Jacob to see him turning red. He let out a small chuckle before we hung up. I really do need to unpack the rest of my stuff. I went over to Newt's room, but furrowed my eyebrows when he wasn't in here. I didn't see him come out.
"Newt?" I called out. No answer. I looked behind me and didn't see him. When I looked back, I jumped in place and let out a little yelp when he stood in front of me. I chuckled as I placed my hand over my chest. "Jeez, don't scare me like that." I gave him a confused look. "Where were you?"
"I was in here," He responded.
I slowly shook my head. "No, I called you and you answered." He wasn't in here.
"I - I was in the closet."
Yeah, yeah, he probably was. He was just hanging up his coat or something and that's why he didn't hear. "Oh, well, I think I'm gonna head out. I need to finish unpacking. We still up for coffee tomorrow?"
He nodded. "Yes. 8:30?"
I smiled. "Absolutely."
