Seven

We ran towards the field. Jacob tried to go straight, but I pulled him to our right. "This is why you don't smell things from strange vials!" I panted. I found a tree a few feet away. I pulled him along before clasping my hands together. "Come on! Up, up, up."

Jacob placed his foot on my hand before I push him up. He grabbed the branch before he started climbing while I did the same. Somehow he ended upside down while we were both hugging the huge branch. The Erumpent stopped below us and rolled on her back. She started to whimper again as she kicked her legs.

"Newt!" We called out. We got no way out of here and he's the only one with the wand.

The Erumpent got on her feet again and took a few paces back. She ran a little bit before she jammed her horn into the tree bark. My eyes widen when I saw part of it beginning to burn. Man, I feel sorry for whoever she ends up mating with.

I held on tighter to the branch as the trunk burst. I started to scream as the tree started to fall. My body shook when we reached the ground. Jacob rolled down the hill while I got off of the branch. I ran over to him and picked him up. We started running again. When we reached the iced lake, our movements became more slippery.

I jumped when I felt the ground shook. I tried to move my way around the ice, but I ended up losing my balance. I placed my hands out in order for me to stop. That didn't happen because I felt the ground cracking before I was plummeted into the water. My body felt nothing but coldness.

I thrashed around until my hands hit the top of the water. "Jacob." I called out. I sank again until I swam back up. "Jacob!" I went down again. I reached to the surface. "Newt!"

I didn't have enough time to take a breath before my whole body went back in. I started thrashing around. I couldn't open my mouth. My chest started pounding violently as my lungs started to burn. They were begging for air.

I felt something grab my arms before I was being pulled. I gasped, which was a bad idea because it let all the cold air in. I started to cough. My body shook as the cold air hits me. I felt something being placed over my back and I held the coat tight around me.

"You ok, Alina?" Jacob asked with a worried expression.

My body shook again. "Yeah," I shivered. I looked at the boys. "Thank you."

I gasped as I shot up from my bed. I looked around my room to see I'm not in New York, but in my room in London. It's been two days since the incident at the restaurant. I haven't called Newt at all. Part of me feels bad, but I can't help but think he's hiding something from me. He knew I'm allergic to chocolate and I know for a fact that I didn't tell him. Not only that, he's always disappearing when I'm at his house. It would be like a half an hour before he somehow appears again.

Then there's that day I found the body. Regular people would have freaked out when they see a dead body, but Newt looked like he knew what was going on. And somehow he lives like a block away from me. That's really strange. Let me add to the fact that I got a mysterious note back in New York and I somehow met Newt on the boat. The exact same boat I was in.

I heard a knock at the front door. I sat up and stretched before I went over and opened it. Why am I not surprised to see Newt at the other side. He looked a bit nervous to be here.

"Mind if I come in?" He asked.

"I don't know, can you?" I asked back.

"Look, Alina, I know you're confused about to what happened at the restaurant but I can explain everything to you."

"Like how you healed me without using any kind of shots?"

Newt nodded has he bit his lip. He motioned towards the door and I let him in. We went towards the living room and I sat on the couch. I gestured towards the spot in front of me. He slowly made his way over and sat down, making sure there's a few feet in between us.

Newt took a deep breath, not knowing how to start. He sighed heavily before  he opened his mouth. "The reason I knew you were allergic was because...you, um, mumbled in your sleep." I raised my eyebrow at him. "I don't know what you were dreaming of, but you said you couldn't because you're allergic to chocolate. As for the shot, uh, it's one I had from my doctor. I might have looked through your drawer to find your epipen and asked if he could make a spare."

I don't talk in my sleep. Jacob and I have been friends for years and he hasn't said anything. I slept at Credence house, once upon a time, and he never told me anything like that.

"What about the glowing light?" I asked.

Newt nodded before he pulled something from his pocket. I furrowed my eyebrows when he showed me his epipen. "I might have added a little flashlight. Just in case." The way he keeps on mumbling, he's not looking at me when he talks. He's lying. He nervously grabbed my hand. "Alina, I really like you. I don't want our relationship to be start off with lies."

My mouth flew open as my cheeks turned pink. "Relationship?" Newt and I kissed and went out a like twice , but we never really talked about us. Whether or not we were an us.

His cheeks tinted. "Yes. Ever since that moment on the boat, I wanted nothing more than to be with you. You remind me of someone I knew a long time ago." Newt may be looking at me, but his eyes seem distant.

"What happened to her?" I asked.

"Um, she had to be sent away. I loved her, but because of what I am and what she is...we couldn't be together. I didn't think I'd have a second chance until we met. I don't want to ruin what we have. And...I've wanted to ask you for sometime now." Newt turned around and grabbed something from his pocket. My eyes widen when he pulled out a silver ring with a yellow gem. "It's a promise ring and I want you to - to wear it."

My heart was leaping from my chest as I stared at the yellow gem. "Newt, I -"

He cut me off. "I know it's too soon for something this big, but I've never been so sure in my life." Newt held the gem up. "So, Alina Nikolai, will you be my girlfriend?"

A small smile came to my face. "Yes."
