I got really excited this morning to meet Newt. I even got up extra early and tried to do my makeup. This isn't a date, so I really didn't want to dress up for just coffee. I only did my mascara with a bit of eyeliner before I left. I held up the map of London as I made my way though the streets. Another reason why I left early was to know my way around.

After twenty minutes of mindless wandering around, I found the place. I let out a successful shriek before I went inside. The place wasn't that packed, it was nice and small. I looked at the clock to see that I was ten minutes early. So, I went over to the register.

The guy had a nice smile and neatly styled hair "Welcome to Mother's Coffee and Tea. My name is Ryan. Would you like to try our brand new chocolate danishes today?"

I kindly shook my head. "For someone who's allergic, probably not."

He smiled "No problem. What an we get for you, Sweetheart?"

I looked around the menu. I'm not use to this many teas and coffee's. "Umm, how about cappuccino, extra foam."

He nodded. "Sure thing. And your name?"

"Alina."

He wrote my name on the cup. I handed him the money and he smiled when he handed me my receipt . "Alright, Alina, I'll bring you your drink momentarily."

I smiled at him as I turned around. I looked around the place to find a good spot. There was one near the window. I sat down and looked at the clock. Still have five minutes. I kept bouncing my knee. My chest kept pounding fast. Calm down, Alina. It's just coffee with Newt.

Few minutes have passed and Ryan came over. He smiled as me as he gave me my coffee. "Alright one cappuccino for a Miss Alina." He took in my nervousness. "Hot date or something?"

I gave him a nervous smile. "Or something." I glanced at the clock and it reads 8:32. "He should be here any moment."

Ryan smiled again. "Ok, I'll get you to it."

I returned the smile and he went back to work. I just sat there and took a sip of my coffee every now and then as time went by. 8:40. 8:47. 8:56. Maybe he's running late. 9:10. 9:18. I sighed as I sat back in my seat. He stood me up. I should have known.

Another cappuccino was placed in front of me and I looked up to see Ryan. I shook my head. "I didn't order -"

He nodded. "I know. It's on the house. Looks like you need it." I sighed. "Maybe the guy forgot?"

I shook my head. "I doubt it," I mumbled. I gave Ryan a confused look as he sat in front of me. "Umm, not to be rude or anything, but don't you have work?"

He chuckled. "My shift ended the moment I gave you that cup. Now I could formal introduce myself." He placed his hand out. "I'm Ryan Montoya."

I shook his hand. "Alina Nikolai."

"You're new here, aren't you?"

I gave him a nervous chuckle. "What gave you that idea?"

"Besides the fact that you have an accent, I've never seen you around here before. Are you visiting?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "No, actually, I thought I needed a new scene from home."

"Where are you from?"

"New York."

"New York. That's the other side of the world."

I nodded. "Yeah." Ryan and I didn't talk that much after. "I'm sorry, I'm not much of a talker."

He nodded in understanding. "That's fine. Uh, how about I talk about myself for a bit? You know, get to know me not just as that creeper barista who sat with you," He joked.

I chuckled with a nod. Ryan lives here in London with his older brother Bruce. He loves to play guitar. He's currently in school for business. His favorite color is sunset orange. Then he suggested that we went back and forth with 20 questions. He got to know me a bit better as I got comfortable with him. He laughed when I told him the story about Jacob sleep baking one night. Then he shared a story about how his friend in school got his butt glued to a chair and had to walk around like that for the rest of the day.

Ryan wiped a tear as he looked at the clock. "Oh, 11:05, I should get going. I don't want to be late for my finance class." I nodded as I got up. "I hope we get to do this again, Alina."

I smiled as we walked out of the shop. "Me, too."

"Hey, I'm off tomorrow. Maybe I can show you what London has to offer. Say 7?"

I nodded. "Sure, it was nice meeting you, Ryan."

He smiled again before he placed his hands in his pockets and walked away. I shook my head at him and left home, unaware of the guy carrying his suitcase.
