RELIEF

19 3 2

Affira is sitting patiently on the king sized couch with her hands folded on her knees. She taps her foot against the ground, looking around the dark big room. It is just as big as hers, but the walls are painted with a dull Grey color which she wonders if had always being grey. She hears the door of a room open and she snaps her neck to the direction of the sound immediately,  her gaze meeting a shirtless Darian. His hair is wet and falls smoothly down his neck while some on his fore head.
He notices her presence and stares at her dubiously.
Affira stands gracefully, she carefully dusts the invisible dust off her long flowing gown. A habit which had grown quite fond of when she feels nervous or unsure. She walks to him with a broad smile on her face

Darian is surprised to see Affira in his room, they had never seen each other outside the council room after the horrible past incident. He mentally shakes himself back to reality, not wanting to be reminded of his past
"What are you doing here" he says with much harshness than intended but this didn't seem to deter the model - like woman walking to him.
"I was really worried about you" she says with a smile
"Well, that's a first" he walks away from her like a manner deprived teenager being rebellious
"It seems like you need someone to talk to after your your little---- massacre" she folds her arms, a little annoyed at his behavior.  He walks into a room and opens a closet door, rummaging for a shirt to go with his ash sweat pants
"I don't need anyone to talk to, especially you" he darts his fiery eyes at her. In the past few days, he has lost all emotions in his eyes. His eyes were more glassy than usual like an empty endless abyss
"Oh Darian, do not act so pig - headed. I had other things to do but I made you my priority. Talk to me"
She rests a hand on his shoulder
her demeanor changes as fast as a cheetah running a race. She talks to him with a motherly loving tone which only seemed to aggravate him
"Don't act like that, you never cared for me. I don't need you to talk to me, you are scared I would lash out, I won't so you can leave now"
"Then what was that, do you know how many bodies that were burnt that day. 20 bodies" she yells, her demeanor changes once more into a fierce one
"that is none of your business" he yanks her hand away " this is my kingdom and I will rule it as I deem fit. You are welcome to leave if you don't like how I run things" he spits out his word with much determination and coldness in his voice "do not try to act like her because you will never and can never be like her. I gave up on caring about you when you left me"
Affira's hands come in contact with his face harshly
"I never left you, I never gave up on you" tears roll down her cheeks "I stayed with you even after you killed her" Darian staggers a little at her words, he didn't expect her to bring it up, ever. It was their unspoken promise to each other, to never say anything about the incident. He turns stone cold and he shakes uncontrollably with anger
"Get out"
"Am sorry" realizing what she has done, guilt washes over like he has been poured cold water
"Get. Out" he says dangerously low and Affira slowly backs away and retreats out if the room. He slumps to the ground and pulls his knees to his chest and wraps his arms round it. He bangs his head violently on the closet door repeatedly until it breaks off
"NO!!" He screams so loud that it echoes through out the castle

Hanos walks into the council room, he looks around warily as he notices that someone is in the room as he looks around the red chairs surrounding the long table even down into the darkness. The sun has gone down and had cast it's shadow on the other side of the room, swallowing it with darkness. He notices a presence sitting on the chair at the other end
"I know you are there, come out now"
The room echoes with a deep throaty chuckles and he hears foot steps walk down until he sees the person fully and his face pales
"Old friend, our chat has been long over due"
"Tony"

"Those blood sucking demons are using her for something bad. I know"
"Schilla" Joseph groans, frustrated at the old woman pestering "this is none of our business now. We cannot afford to stand against them, blood would be shed for just a common girl"
"Blood shed is inevitable Joseph, do not be a fool. She is a creature of great power I fear what they would use her for, they didn't kill her. It only means they need ger. The end is just at the corner Joseph and I know you can feel it" she spits out before staggering out of the ancient hall.
Joseph groans and sits on the chair besides him, he rubs his fore head as he closes his eyes shut, trying to relieve himself from the massive headache he is currently having
"That woman is such a pain" he grumbles under his breath, he thinks about all she had said and he knows there is some truth to it.
'The girl had killed the crown prince, her head is meant to be on a pike but they didn't kill her. They have plans'
He shivers at the thought of everything that could go wrong if Schilla is right
'Vampires should not have plans'

"How long has it been Hanos, 7 decades? 8? 9?" He chuckles
"We really do need to talk friend" he nods enthusiastically. Hanos stares at him with disdain, he looks around warily, careful of Tony's steps
"Well, friend" he emphatically says the last word
"I have been saddled with the responsibility of taking care of the children whose parents were snatched away too early" he glares at Tony who returns the glare with a cheerful smile
"That is a shame" he nods. His expression saying quite the opposite of his words. "My sister did leave too early, I miss her dearly, am sure you must know how it feels. You two were awfully close in the past before she married my dear brother-in-law" he says with a look of disgust
"I actually had hope in your relationship" he smiles
"That is all in the past Tony I am happily married and I have a lovely daughter"
Tony laughs sarcastically "you barely even know her name or birthday do you?" He walks slowly to Hanos who shifts uneasily at the spot
"But you know everything about Darian. When he sleeps, what he wears, where he goes. It really is saddening, I feel sorry for her"
"I am needed here, she is old enough to take care of herself. The king needs me with him"
"Who?, To act as his rage check, the monster has no control. You feel burdened with your promise don't you. Her death wish" he smiles dubiously at Hanos
Hanos looks at him warily, Tony is indeed a smart man this is everything Hanos has hid from anyone especially himself but he is resurfacing it, peeling an already stitched wound
"What do you need Tony"
"It is quite obvious Hanos" he breaks into a maniac grin which makes him look a Cheshire cat who just ate a canary and suddenly his eyes darken     "The fall of Darian"

The cave is illuminated by the strays of light which passes through tiny crevice and the constant pitter patter breaks the deafening silence
The Baxar sits comfortably on a small slab of rock, watching Maurinette intently. "What is soo---endearing about you child"
He walks to her and lifts her thin weak hand "there is something about you but--what is it" he shuts his eyes and places his hand over her stomach. The other hand holds onto a small ball and he mutters incoherent words. The cave begins to rumble and vibrate mildly and the small ball changes from its snowy white to a smoky blue which seemed to be moving restlessly. He smiles and carefully places the ball in a box
"That should make you feel better. If you can't cure a problem, simply remove it

Tony moves quickly in a blur out of the castle, dressed in a hood. Within minutes, he reaches the border between the vampires and the witches, A barren valley which feels uncomfortably cold at the dark but it didn't seem to deter him. He stops at the border and looks around to see if he was being followed. He opens a little small gold bag with blue spiral designs embroidered on it. He opens it and brings out a grain of golden sand which is hardly visible to see and drops it on the ground. Few seconds later, golden blur erupts from the valley's sands and grows to Tony's height. It is translucent and in a constant state of motion. Like a cloud of smoke moving, he walks through it.

Darian speeds to the site as fast as he can but the blur disappears immediately
"the sands of travel"
