Maurinette carries a tightly sealed brown box containing her things into the house. She walks into the living room, admiring how well furnished it was. She drops her box on the floor and runs out of the house to meet her mom and hugs her tightly "mom, I love here."
Her mom gently caresses her hair.     "nobody can treat you badly here, we are starting again. Forget about the past, this is our new beginning" she kisses maurinette's hair "run along".
Maurinette skips happily into the  house, she tours the house, checks out the rooms, the kitchen and bathroom. She walks into a room Which she recognizes as hers because the room was painted in her favorite color, mauve. She drops the box and opens it, she unpack her cloth and the little portraits of her and her parents. She never had friends before and hoped things would be different now. She knots her shoulder's length caramel colored hair into a tight bun.
Maurintte spends the next few hours arranging her room and placing the furniture in ways she felt made the room look cool. 'always had that fashion sense in me' she thought to herself, proud of her Hard work. Her mom's call soon wakes her up from her imaginary world.
She runs down the stairs to the kitchen, she is welcomed by the aroma of freshly baked croissants. Her favorite 'mum was always a great cook'. She thought while she let out a broad smile when she sees the neatly arranged brown crispy edged banana shaped goodness on the cross table.
She stealthily walks to the table to grab a croissant when her mother turns around and catches her. she smacks Maurinette's hand "you never learn, do you". Maurinette raises her hand in defeat "fine, I will wait" she murmurs and let out a sigh.
Soon after, her father walks in and sees the croissants still placed on the table. He sneakily walks to the table, Maurinette sees her father and swallows in a laugh as she watches her father try to grab one. Immediately, her mother catches his hand and gives him a disapproving look. "Kalvin, will you ever change" she turns to Maurinette "just like your father"
Maurinette and Kalvin stares at her with puppy dog eyes "no, don't you dare look at me with those eyes, both of you" They stare at her till she lets out a sign in defeat "fine, just one"
Maurinette and Kalvin high five each other as they dig into their their snack. They let out a soft moan as the richy goodness fills their mouth and they chew, in almost the same rhythm.

Later that evening, Kalvin sits besides Sidney on the bed. she looks at him worried "how long can we keep this away from her, she is almost a full grown woman and is about to leave, to college. We cannot let her go till she knows everything, her true self" Kalvin let's out a sigh an pushes his long thin fingers down his pitch black hair, then replies "she deserves to know but not now, she has to adjust and we need to guide her through this hard time. We cannot release that bombshell to her right now she might not be able to take it all in. She has to know she is different but, not now"
