Mercy spent the next following days with taking care of Ethan’s wound. It was a slow process but it did actually heal. He was slowly recovering. It had now been her responsibility to taker care of the infirmarytent and the ones who came there. Bellamy had said it himself, she was much better than Esmeralda was. Bellamy had showed her a great amount of kindness and had trained her in archery and dagger throwing.
She was out cleaning the rags and filling the bucket with clean water by the river when she heard a horn, a fanfare, from the camp. It was not the same fanfare as the one that woke her up every morning, this sound made her stomach twist, this wasn’t good. Not good at all. It meant that everyone had to hurry up for an emergency meeting. She quickly collected her things and hurried back to the camp.
She found everyone gathered inside the gathering tent. Inside stood Bellamy in the front with the others facing him. She went over to Esmeralda who have become her best friend. Chevy had disappear almost every day or stayed and do things very different from Mercy’s
”What’s going on?”
”Just listen”, Esmie said and they both turned to look and listen to what Bellamy had to say.
”Good, everyone’s here”, Bellamy said. He looked troubled which made her a bit worried. ”I have some troubling news. We are running out of provisioning and we need to get more.”
”How?”, Mercy whispered to Esmeralda.
”Why do you ask so much?” With a snort Mercy turned her attention back at Bellamy.
”But we have a plan.” He turned to Miles. ”Miles, if you could tell them.”
Miles stepped forward and pulled out a document form his long coat. ”We are going to do as always but because’s Mercy’s new, I will take it from the start.” Everyone tuned to look at her, she was sort of used to it, being the new girl and all but it was still a bit embarrassing to be under everybody’s eyes. ”To get the provision from trucks that are traveling between the cities. They are extremely afraid of the air outside, so we just open the doors to their trucks and get control over the vehicle and take what we can get into our cars and leave. Everybody okay with that?” They nodded.
”Good”, Bellamy said. ”Penelope and Chris, I want you two to stay here and watch over the camp and watch over Ethan and the little ones.”
”We aren’t little”, Timothy said and frowned.
”If I say you’re little then you are little, got it?”, Bellamy said and both Tim and Zoey nodded. Bellamy had this embedded respect that everyone felt. ”Monty, Logan, Esmeralda, Ginger and Mercy, you are going with me and the rest of you are going with Miles. We leave in an hour.”
Mercy was about to get out of the tent when Miles caught her by the arm.
”I would like to show you something.”
She followed him to the tent where he and Bellamy usually disappeared in at the end of the day. She knew it wasn’t an abode tent and she was very curious what was going on in there. She hadn’t wanted to ask Esmeralda, she had already asked her to much the past days.
She followed Miles in to the tent and was stunned. Tables was sorted out inside of the tent with weapons, mechanical parts and blueprints covering them.
”Wow”, was all she could say.
”This is my workshop”, Miles said and went over to one of the tables. ”I make the weapons and all the other things we might need.”
”This is amazing, Miles.”
”Thank you, this far it’s only you and Bellamy that have shown appreciation for my inventions.” She felt sorry for him. He did so much and didn’t get enough credit for it. ”But this is what I wanted to show you, and give you.” He handed her a beautiful bow and a container filled with arrows. It was all made in aspen tree and the feathers at the bottom of her arrows where made of feathers form an eagle. It was beautifully made and the wood was smooth and soft under her touch.
