The needle pierced my skin, causing me to squeeze my eyes shut, as I released my fist, allowing the blood to flow through the needle. "Alright, Alex, I'll juts take a few viles and you'll be on your way," the nurse said with a smile on her face. I watched the blood pour into the tube, exiting my arm. The nurse pulled the tube off of the needle and put another one in, blood squirting away again.

Jessie sat next to me, eyes squeezed shut, lips pressed together. She looked quite disturbed and/or in pain. "Jessica, please, relax. It'll help the flow." She took a deep breath, her fists becoming less balled.

The nurse pulled the needle out of my arm, and pressed a cotton ball to the wound and told me to push down so it would stop bleeding. I held the cotton ball as the nurse put stickers on all the tubes, then walked out of the room, down the hallway.

I looked around - at Jessie and the nurse, holding her hand as the blood slowly poured out of the wire and into the tube, how there were signs everywhere, telling about fasts for blood tests and all sorts of medical things I didn't understand. The room looked different from all the others - it was more decorated, less bland. With all the posters and shelves and computers and chairs and gloves and everything else, there was so much more to look at, so much more than id been experiencing for the past two weeks and I was enjoying it to a great extent. I pressed down harder on the cotton ball as I thought of the bland, repeating days id have since I got into the hospital, my anger towards Philip growing the more I thought about the pain he's caused. He won, even if we aren't dead.

"So," the nurse said, looking at a paper over her glasses as she walked back into the room, "You do have it. I already put in for your antibiotics." I nodded, then looked at Jessie who seemed to be both petrified and relived, pushing a cotton ball to her arm. "Alright, let's get you sealed up." She pulled the cotton ball away, exposing the hole where the needle went in. She wet a clean ball with some stuff in a bottle and wiped my arm down as I squirmed in my seat - it was cold and it stung - then threw it away and placed a blue bandage over it before pulling up the arm rest in front of me. I got up and stood at the door, waiting for Jessie's test to come back. She was already cleaned up.

"Her too. They all got it," the other nurse said, looking through a clipboard. Jessie nodded and got up, meeting me at the door. We left, running back to our quarantine, holding our breath. We still weren't cured.

An hour later, a tray of bottles, water and directions came through the door. Our medicine. I read the directions:

"'For Alex, take one teaspoon every 45 minutes today. Dilute with water; you'll have enough. please, do take care to making sure its on time.

For Jessie, take on teaspoon every hour - you're smaller than him - today. Repeat the rest as Alex would.

For Ann, take one and a half teaspoons every hour - you're older - today. Repeat as your daughter and Alex would.

All of you, please, it's important you do this as told for the medicine to take its affect. We will send in new bottles and new direction for tomorrow. Does not need to be taken with food. you can eat after, before and not even near the taking of this medicine. It is a liquid, it is white. There is a childproof safety cap, so be sure to pay attention to how to open it. You will most likely have a detox tomorrow. You'll get further notice with tomorrow's dosage directions. Take care, the journey's almost over!'"

Jessie nodded cautiously, taking her time to fill the spoon and put in her mouth. Once she did, it sat there. her lips around it.  She pulled it out of her mouth and smiled, wiping the spoon on her shirt. "It was," she said, then opened her water and drank from it. Ann took her teaspoon, letting out a "Mmmm" before eagerly taking her other half.

I put a timer on my laptop, so I didn't forget to take the yummy medicine. Hopefully this worked, after all, it wasn't hard to do. My stomach rumbled as I laid down, going on to message my mom about the day I had.

got blood. tested positive. just took first dose and it was good! totally no issue with the taking of the medicine. that's a first! :)

She replied back right away.

I closed my laptop and sighed, sliding down further under the fresh sheets. Maybe Philip didn't win just yet. I was getting healed. This battle wasn't over, and I don't think it will be for a while.

[A/N: Arg! Sorry for the late update!

but then again I was one off from my reads goal, and two from my votes :(

but I love you anyway.

I honestly. . . this chapter saved me from crying. Writing is my escape, tbh.
